Is that the 1:43 scale I spy behind it?

It's about the right size, just wish there was some better shots of it.

Just done a little zoom on it, better than nothing I guess.

They're definitely using the Ecto as it is now for reference which explains the light bar brackets. I hope they look at the film for some reference as well to fix that.

The Hotwheels Ecto appears to capture the 1959 Cadillac body better as well, the proportions of the older one just seemed squashed and stretched…

It also features a finer assortment of details, just look at how many more bits of trim the new one sports (including the luvre plates, as already pointed out).

I doubt they will do so, but it would be cool if the lights actually worked on the Ecto-1, I have the original 1:18 scale Knight Rider car and that has the glowing red light at the front of KITT.

Nope, no working lights. Ertl has done a few movie cars with working lights in the past (KITT and Christine) but there's not a chance Hotwheels is going to do that. Also, don't expect them to listen to what the fans have to say about the models; they're not going to make any changes anyway. The 1966 Batmobile had several little flaws (some of which could easily be corrected during production) but they just wouldn't listen.

Something like this would be cool.

This is looking great! I love my JoyRide 1:21st model, but with the pictures of the it right below the prototype that Ben posted - it's amazing how much better the prototype looks!

I just found this image for Ecto-1 for the 1:43 scale model, not sure if it is the real deal as there are currently no final images that I have seen.
