Oh damn… now I really want that, and the Ecto-1A in the same scale…

Too expensive! Egon Spengler

I love all the details and it does look great, but for $100+ I was expecting a flawless reproduction. Make no mistake, I'll still be buying it, but Hot Wheels could have done better in return for the high asking price. I'll just be hoping that the final product at least has more of a shiny chrome look to the silver parts than the plastic look in these pictures.

The most glaring error, though, has to be that the signs on the doors are tilted too far. This is the best picture I could find of the screen-used car, from GB2, but the orientation of the signs was probably about the same in the first film:

Well… someone really studied the RL car to get all of the incorrect details accurately… incorrect (note the missing radar mast antenna for an appreciation of just how closely they really did follow their photo references). That isn't sarcasm, they really did an awesome job studying the E1 as it is today. …I just wish that companies would start referencing production materials before making representations of the Ectomobiles.

I'm seriously torn. It's an absolute gorgeous replica, of a restoration that makes me cringe. My obsessive compulsive nature wants to buy one and try to fix as many of the inaccuracies as possible, but I can't bring myself to cut up something so expensive… My OCD would also REALLY struggle with putting up with the die-cast as-is. I simultaneously want it and hate it… sad

I kinda shudder to think of how the 1A will be represented. Think it will have a large hole in the windshield? < Ok, that was sarcasm.Peter Venkman

looks amazing. I probably won't get Ecto 1A though. Also, can someone correct me, I thought the front long antenna is strapped down isn't it?

It is.

And if possible, please avoid from directly hotlinking to GBFans' images, it takes away from their bandwidth (rehosting it at imageshack avoids the problem).

ah sorry, my bad. I wonder if we can bend the antenna backwards on the model and strap it on the roof rack?

I'd be wary, if it's made in a similar fashion to the one on the last die-cast, bending it could snap the plastic base of the antenna. I hope the Ecto-scope rotates so it can be faced the correct way.

Looks to me like the top red piece snaps into the white base part. Hopefully they don't use glue so you can rotate it.

Look what has just popped up on eBay, seems like someone in the factory has some early stock for sale, it's the 1:43 scale model at the momnent not seen any 1:18 scale ones yet.
