If not, then why use Brian-Doyle Murray at all? Why not just get a new actor to play the role of the mayor?

Because not only is he Bill's older brother, but he is good friends with Dan and Harold since the days of Saturday Night Live.

Plus he probably was free to do the job and I don't blame him. I would want to do a voice over for Ghostbusters, even for the game.

Plus he's got a great voice.

I guess…but as far as continuity goes, it rubs me the wrong way.

Hopefully he is the same guy he played in GB2, just switched careers. I suppose he could be even if they don't explain his jump into politics. After all, they never gave his character in GB2 a name.

I don't really see the big deal, to be honest with you.

Even in his role as the doctor, BDM didn't use his typical voice. Plus we don't even know if his character is modeled after him or if it's simply his voice. The old Mayor ran for governor and so there is a new mayor. Makes sense considering that by 1991, Lenny would have been running in the Fall of 1990 and finishing up his second term as mayor.

As for money, my guess is that it's optional or that there are different ways you can upgrade your weapons. It's probably a system where you have some control over how you pass a mission.

I don't know about you, but up until that last trailor I was a little skeptical about the game. However, now I'm starting to dig it.

Thanks for your help guys. I just wanted to make sure I was correct in what I was thinking.

I kind of wish the original Mayor from the movies was going up. Even if he is voice by a different actor, but maybe Terminal Reality wanted to keep it to the original as possible. Like if Rick Moranis, David Margulise, and Sigourney Weaver signed up for the game then maybe their characters Luis, Lenny

Margulies and Louis.

1. If you can pick and choose what equipment you wanted to spend your money on, then that means missions have to be open enough so that any number of combinations can be used.

As we haven't seen any suggestion that upgrades are swapable, I imagine that they're permanent additions to the Pack/Gun. I also imagine it's not so much you choose to purchase which one to add, but simply work up an appropriate level of cash to unlock said upgrade.

2. If the equipment is forced and you had to have it to finish the game, then the money system seems superfluous if not useless. Not saying it is, but there must be some purpose to it other than “I get to upgrade my equipment.” Stat building perhaps? Like justinmarkus mentioned. Maybe that it is it

The money system has been a somewhat confusion, and in my mind, unneccesary element. A lot of us would want to smash stuff, and whilst they probably wouldn't make it too taxing on the final payment the guys bring in, it might make some people take too much care in not destroying too much stuff.

3. What happens if we don't gain enough money from a mission to buy these equipments? Will we be stuck or is it a guarantee that after say three levels our packs get upgraded or something along those lines. This is assuming of course that not all the money is collected in one level.

Good question, if you haven't made enough cash it could be you could gain more by replaying past levels.

The reason why I am asking this is this weird oddity that I noticed. Sometimes the player/Rookie will have an equipment on a certain level and sometimes he doesn't despite it being the same level. I keep wondering if this is a game thing or was this just for the trailers.

I believe that may be because you can replay a level you've done, even if you have more equipment then when you first played it.

How so? I don't think it's very likely the psychiatrist went on to be Mayor. It's safe to assume he's a completely different character (crossing my fingers here).

Should he be given a new appearance, then there's even less of a problem.

I don't think it's more unlikely than Arnold Schwarzenegger becoming Governor of California, Jesse Ventura becoming the Governor of Minnesota or Jim Ryun (Former Olympian) becoming a Congressman.

Hi!. I just joined this forum after seeing the trailer. I've been a big Ghostbusters fan since I was a kid, but it's was seeing the trailer that prompted me to join. I'm not a big gamer, but seeing that trailer was like being a kid again. I stumbled upon it just by chance, as I was wondering how the games development was going along. So seeing it was a very pleasant surprise.

I laughed when I saw the guys doing that dance, and was grinning from ear to ear after seeing Pete with his hands on his hips and that slight grin on his face. It's impossible to not be optimistic about this game. It just has too much going for it.

The character models also look great!. If I have one slight issue, it's that Ernie's Winston looks a little on the thin side. His head doesn't look quite in proportion with his body. But other than that, everything is looking awesome. This game even has Walter Peck, so there is no chance it won't rule!.

I never said a unlikely candidate can't be elected… but it doesn't have to be the psychiatrist from Park View, and I wouldn't be expecting it to be him, it's far more likely it's a completely different character altogether.

Thought I'd drop in after checking David Margulies' entry on IMDB.com, and I found out that he's currently 71 as of this year, so that might explain why he didn't return to voice the mayor we all know and love.

It doesn't have to be, but I would be surprised if it wasn't. Everyone else's likeness appears in the game, why not BDM? And if they included his likeness, but as a different character, that would be a bit odd, don't you think? What if the hotel manager from GB appeared in GB2 as a completely different character?

I read in earlier reports of the game that BDM would be playing the team's psychologist and now the internets are ablaze about him playing the mayor. That is why I believe that BDM as the psychologist goes on to become mayor in GB: TVG.

I guess we'll find out June '09.
