I think the movie ‘Year One’ will have a huge impact if Ghostbusters 3 will be going into production.

I thought I should toss in my thoughts because I've been anticipating a sequel since I stumbled upon the original gb.net. Yeah, I'm one of those who remembers. Well, as of right now I'm a little older and a lot more skeptical towards any information about the third gb film. Is it something I think can be done and done right? Absolutely. Do I think the time for making it has already gone and this movie would seem like nothing more than a desperate last try at re-capturing former glory like so many other late sequels? YES YES YES. If they make this, it'll be a terminator 3, a crystal skull, a die hard 4. Passable perhaps, but not up to the standards set by the first film. I don't know if I'd be willing to watch ghostbusters follow the same pattern no matter how much I've dreamed of a sequel. It's sad to see aged heros from your childhood obviously weaker, slower, but still trying to fit into their old suits… It's frankly embarrassing…

So… I can't believe I'm saying this… I don't want a Ghostbusters 3.

A new cartoon series wouldn't hurt though.

Yeah your right Crystall Skull was pretty bad, but the new Rocky movie proves that it’s possible to do it right. It got pretty good reviews, and most of the fans enjoyed it.
I got no problem with original cast getting some new guys to help them as long as its not
Ben Stiller,Will ferrel, or Adam Sandler.

Ben I agree 100%, that sort of comedy, particularly drug jokes makes me very angry. Particularly when these films make drugs look like something it's fine to get involved in, like it's an every day thing to do like having a beer, people lose family and friends to drugs, often to the extent of death. It's certainly not funny, and I'm disgusted by any comedic reference to them.

If this thing goes anyway, like bigpal mentioned, I want the comedy to be intelligent.

The special effects of potential film could be fantastic.

I agree, however I just hope that they don't go overboard with the special effects.

Well I just finished watching “You Don't Mess With The Zohan” that I downloaded earlier and saw in the end credits that it was written by Judd Apatow, now I am a worried as this film was really awefull. If that is meant to be progress with how humour is I say don't let that idiot near the film.

I don't want to see my beloved franchise's style of wit and humor go the way of Epic Movie and Disaster Movie.

I highly doubt that even a BAD GB 3 script would be THAT bad. Only the two guys that keep making Epic/Disaster Movies/Meet the Spartans are that unfunny. THAT humor is outdated before the film even comes out.

Being worried about it not being strictly by the “original creators” is silly. GB2 is not good, and Aykroyd's GB3 script sounded horrendous. If the reports are true that they're using elements both from Aykroyd's/Ramis's ideas and the new guys, that's good, because what made part 1 so good was tempering Aykroyd's over-the-top fantasy elements with real world mundane-ness.

You've echoed my sentiments exactly! Let's be perfectly honest. The script which was written by Ramis and Aykroyd for Ghostbusters II was not good! With that in mind I see no reason why someone else shouldn't have a go at writing a script for Ghostbusters III.

Personally I think that whoever writes the script needs to hand it to Ramis and Aykroyd afterwards to let them write/rewrite the dialogue. Dialogue is a hugely important part of Ghostbusters. There are so many memorable lines in the original which made the movie what it is and I think that Dan and Harold probably know how to write these kind of lines better than anyone. Of course, much of it was ad libbed by Murray as well. What I'm trying to say is, let the Ghostbusters choose the lines!
