Ditto, wish I would have been taught electronics in school I could have picked it up in just a class or so. But I entered the game late and struggling with the learning curve. I do have a friend who is a retired electrical engineer who I am trying to get to learn and teach me ICs like the 555 timer and 4017 counter so I can make my own chasing lights

You think that's bad? Try having to work out a rig for installing those magnetic light-up pins into your Kenner Ectomobiles! (For the record, I managed it–barely–with strips of wood and heavy-duty Velcro. Those things are a bugger to turn off, though.)
