As you can tell, this is a request for advice from anyone on the boards about Ghostbusting on Halloween. I do not know where to go to compete; bars seem wrong and I don't know about the restaraunts. Local events are the best thing i can think of, as I will be by myself and would prefer to be in town at night…if there is anything at night. Someone suggested “Boo at the Zoo”-style local events…but let me be honest: I would like to compete for cash prizes before I wow the locals in the park. So…any suggestions? I know it's three months away, but I'd feel better knowing what to expect.(*peter)

I don't know why you say bars seem wrong… they're probably one of, if not the best places to go for costume contests with cash prizes.

I've always done my best contests at bars,most anyone 21 or older that don the gear hit up bars dude,and as far as you saying the GBs don't fit with the bar scene,let's see Ray and Peter are drinking liquor on the steps of the university and Ray says to Winston “Let's go get a beer.” in GB2.

I had a wonderful experience in january where kids I'd never seen before wanted pics and they ALL hugged me before they left. Oh, and the parents were overjoyed as well. Also, I had a friend that went to a bar once wearing a screen-accurate Boba Fett. He didn't win…the winner was some drunken bum with a sheet over his head, holes cut in it. He won as Charlie Brown @ Halloween! So explains my trepidation of bars and costume contests-but you guys are supportive and actively helping bolster my confidence.

There's been a recurring theme in past years that people who've put in the least effort have gone on to win against someone who has built their own screen accurate Pack and suit.
And then there's the issue of drunk idiots in bars grabbing the Pack and gun, and the general lack of room also possibly causing damage.
