Yes, you read it correctly! Nickelodeon's new deal with Shout! has struck gold for fans, bringing Hey Dude - Season 1 to DVD at long last! According to Amazon's pre-order listing (which went up over the weekend), the highly anticipated 2-DVD set will come to stores on July 19th.

For five years, this show was #5 on TVshowsonDVD's list of most requested unreleased shows. This is the golden year for everybody who grew up with 90s Nickelodeon. Long live Nickstalgia! smile

More Nickeloldies are coming this year!

Let's recap:

Tuesday - Wild Thornberrys Season 1 (Nick/Shout)
June 21 - Rocko's Modern Life Season 1 (Nick/Shout)
October (according to Kenan) - The 90s Are All That (TeenNick)
July 19 - Hey Dude Season 1 (Nick/Shout)

And now, behold…

August 9 - Hey Arnold! Season 1 (Nick/Shout)
August 23 - The Angry Beavers Seasons 1 & 2 (Nick/Shout)

2011 is the year that we'd get revenge on Nickelodeon for forsaking us. smile

Catdog (okay), Aaahh!!! Real Monsters (love it!), and Danny Phantom (meh) have been announced by Nick/Shout but don't have release dates yet AFAIK.

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: TeenNick's The ‘90s are All That programming block starts Saturday July 23, 2011. It will air weeknights from midnight to 4 a.m. ET and weekend afternoons from 4 to 6 p.m. ET. At least they’re giving people a chance to watch whether they're up all night or sleeping. smile

They even have a new promo with Kenan and the Big Orange Couch! Too bad no Kel, but we'll get to see plenty of them together soon enough.

Hey Dude has been released on DVD today with the Christine Taylor interview.

Also, a correction: The start date will actually be Monday (July 25), not Saturday (23). The same time and everything is correct.

First week shows will be:

12yikes0am All That
12:30am Kenan & Kel
1yikes0am Clarissa Explains It All
1:30am Doug

Then the block will repeat to make up a four-hour block.

Also, a new promo with the official Monday date!!!

I knew this was gonna happen, but wasn't sure it would be to this extent…

Nick's New ‘90s Nostalgia Block Is A Ratings Smash

The block bested the TeenNick shows that were in the time slot previously. Not only that, but The 90s Are All That beat out Lopez Tonight and reruns of MTV’s Awkward, and Old Christine and HIMYM on Lifetime. Talk about impressive.

Woo Hoo! Victory dance!

Let's make lightning strike twice. If the ratings continue to be this impressive, then they might consider moving the block to Nick @ Nite. Some fans are begging for a new channel for all the (80s and?) 90s shows.

I forgot to record the block last night, so I missed All That, but watched what I could of Kenan & Kel (“Safe and Sorry”), and I recorded Clarissa and Doug.

This block is great. The shows still hold up after all these years and stand the test of time. Yes, the Hammer pants, cell phones, computers, and Clinton being president are all dated by now. Funny watching Kenan and Kel and the president is Clinton, and realizing this was only two presidents ago; it seems like eons since I sat in front of the TV watching Nickelodeon in the 90s.

I don't know if they'll re-air anything like Beetlejuice or acquired shows like Land of the Lost, Gumby, or Tiny Toons, but it would be nice.

Hopefully with the block's success and the sales of the Shout Factory DVDs, the 90s Nickelodeon movies will get Blu-ray releases. Come on, give me Harriet the Spy and Good Burger in 1080p. Imagine the epicness of the George Clinton scene with perfect picture and DTS-HD Master Audio pumping out “Knee Deep.”
