Saw the trailer a while ago. Freddy looks ok, he's supposedly looks more like a real burn victim. Jackie got the voice down pretty well, a bit not exactly like Robert's, but he did say he was putting his own interpretation (he basically said he's going to use his anger from the long hours in the makeup chair ha ha).

yea, he looks ok… They got the best guy for the job i think, but they made him look like a puss, i seem to remember him not being afriad to be killed, he was laughting as he was burning.

Could be with this reboot, they're trying to make Freddy a bit more sympathetic… despite what he may have done according to this film's series of events.

From my remembrance (and that could be flawed considering how long it has been since the last time I actually saw a NoES movie) I seem to remember every time they re-showed his “death” his “reaction” to his coming demise changed…running the gambit from straight out fear to humor

The trailer seems to point that Freddy is innocent and didn't actually kill kids, which seems a little strange. There's probably going to be a plot twist though. I just can't see Freddy being innocent and his motives revenge. Less “scary” to me, but I'll give the movie a shot either way.

Doesn't look too bad, but what does everyone think of these other great horror remakes?

The Thing.
Peter Jackson's King Kong.
The Fly.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers 1978.
The Blob.
Dawn of the Dead.
Night of the Living Dead.
The Hills Have Eyes.
The Last House on The Left.
My Bloody Valentine 3D.
The Ring.
Cat People.

Not all remakes are bad.

Not all remakes are bad, but most of the ones from the last ten years or so are.
Call me old-fashioned but I will never accept any other Freddy than Robert Englund. Watching someone else play him just doesn't work for me, it just feels wrong.
I hear Michael Bay and Brad Fuller are going to remake The Birds next. Jesus, when are they gonna stop? These idiots are starting to annoy me more than Uwe Boll.

a few of those are good, the thing is one of my the all time greats, same as the fly. but the ring? The ring is one of the worst remakes of all time, its a complete bastardization of the classic. that bit with the horse, i honest to god thought i was watching a comedy.

also dawn of the dead would have been a better film if it wasnt called dawn of the dead.

I agree with Popey, the Ring's remake was lame as hell. Actually, I'd even go so far as to say that pretty much all Asian horror films remade by Americans in the past 10 years (dunno if there were any before then) have all been of the same crap caliber.

I liked pretty much all of the others on the list though. Jeff Goldblum in The Fly will be forever burned into my mind.
