Nomination Requirements?

I think the next time we vote for mods (hell knows when that will be) we should set guidlines for those who the nominations should go to. Another words if youve been here for about a year you should be more qualified for the mod then someone who just got here a week ago. And if we did that this time I know I wouldn't be nominated nor should I have been if someone before me wanted the job.

The way I see it, the odds of people who've just joined the boards in the last week will not become mods now. People…no matter how old they are, tend to vote for those who they've known for a long time. Elections are always based on popularity. Presidential elections included. You can say the world about “the important issues” and “what needs to be done”, but its all about charisma and who you know. The regulars and veteran members who you've seen on the boards since the GBN days up till now, will most likely be the members who become our leaders. That's just the way it is right now and that's the way its gonna be.

…and to tell you the truth, I considered putting my name in the hat to be nominated as a mod. After some thought, I decided to step down. Now is not my time to be one. To be a mod, means to handle responsibility with honor and maturity. I hold those qualifications to heart, but time is my hindrance. If I'm gonna be a mod, I've gotta give you all I've got…that means my undivided attention and my time. So, to the people who will eventually become mods, wear that title with honor and passion because the future is now.

The meaning of ‘Ghosthead’ is pride.

It doesn't matter who was nominated..it's who you vote for….sure there are some names on the ballots that maybe some don't agree with…so don't vote for them…. :p … … no ghost is right… people will vote for who they know…

And as far as I could tell…the majority of the nominations were thought out, and there were good reasons behind them…popularity not being a big reason…

most of the nominees, I think, were nominated for the area that they are most familiar with, or know a lot about..

that's just how I see it….

You aren't the only person who didn't get nominated, and if you wanted it so bad, you could have always nominated yourself. If you don't get to be a mod, it's not the end of the world.

Just let it go…it's not worth getting this upset over.

He's right though toygeek. I nominated myself and didn't appear on the ballot.

I have to agree. I mean, M. Bison seems like a great guy, but he's only been here for a little over a week. I've been here long enough for people to get to know me and I've been expressing concerns about the community. But M. Bison has more votes than me! I'm not complaining, it's just that it doesn't make sense that he has more votes when he hasn't delt with the problems in the community for as long as everyone else nominated and really hasn't expressed as much concern about these things.

I truly care about this community and want to do as much as I can to help make it a better place. I really want to be a mod. Right now it seems that the voting is a popularity contest and not really “who do I think is going to do the best job?”
