Off-Line Modes

Aside from story mode, say you have no online capabilities or just don't particularly enjoy LIVE, what exactly does this game have to offer single/solo player wise, aside from story mode?

I know there is multi-player, but all I seem to read in regards to it in reviews, is LIVE oriented. For me, that is where all the replay value lies, not story mode. So much of what I see for the other modes look awesome and are what excite me the most to be honest. Do any of the multi-player modes offer single player, such as “Slime Dunk”, “Survival”, “Containment”, etc?

I don't see why that would have to be a LIVE only thing and why you couldn't just play against the AI. I really don't wanna have to always rely on a friend for the whole game outside of multiplayer. It would really suck to have a Ghostbusters game where you cant even play as one, just the rookie doesnt cut it….!

It's rare now we see any local multiplayer with A.I. I haven't founda gfame with that since Medal of Hour rising sun on PS2

I'm in the position of not having online and am hoping, despite all the reports and reviews, there's atleast SOME local multiplayer option. Even a co-op story/campaign mode would have made the game worth atleast a few more run throughs. I don't mind having to rely on a friend for some multiplayer just aslong as it's split screen local play which i'm still not sure is a feature.

Gears of War 2 actually has at least capable, and sometimes downright awsome AI. *Looks at Ben Carmine.*

But anyway: It's actually been said by someone(TR?) that the 360/PS3 version will have NO local play. Split-screen/Lan Story/random busting are all online only.

But the WII version has camaign co-op.

I still think this game would really REALLY needs co-op.

Although I can see why they wouldn't include it on the console versions.(If you really want to know, ask me in PM.)

Great, so there is nothing you can do other than story mode. Finally a Ghostbusters game is here, and I cant even play as a Ghostbuster.

I dont get it. Why is it so difficult to just play 1-player these days? Ya dont NEED someone else to catch Slimer and do some of those other challenges. I mean like Mortal Kombat for example, you could do cart racing, etc on your own in the other modes. The 2nd Buffy game, some of the other modes were only for you AND a freind and then others YOU could do on your own. This is still a console game, so much majority shouldnt be on-line exclusive, this isnt World of Warcraft. To think after 5-8 hours I can do everything in the game with nothing else left to explore, as in all those other modes that are just left to sit there, doesnt quite keep me as hyped up anymore…

I'm sure if they wanted to, they could patch it and create an offline multiplayer mode with bots…shouldn't be too hard…I THINK…once again I THINK!..

I'm going to skip out and let you know what I think the reasons is that GB:TVG has only 1 player.

I've actually heard that the game is very taxing on processor power and once or twice the game has had slowdown when all the Ghostbusters (including you) are fireing their proton packs.

The reason that multiplayer isn't included is because in split-screen, your not exactly playing “Together” To make the split-screen work you create basicly to versions of the same area, from two angles.

For example: Your playing halo, there's a grunt sleeping silently in the corner. Both you and your friend approach. Then your friend hits the grunt.

The game does this action twice once on his screen once on yours. Now imagine if all of the ghostbusters were going crazy on staypuft with all the little mini-minions running around.

All of that would be happening twice and it would just tear up your CPU and make the game run VERY slowly.

So they took it out. For your own good.

Although in the wii version, there is split screen because the graphics are majorly toned down. Making it easier for the system to run.

Although I don't understand why they can't town down the graphics with the 360/PS3 versions…

Thats the whole thing though, I dont care about split screen or playing with someone else, just 1-player on your own catching slimer, containment, etc mode, so you can play as the 4 guys solo.

But that would ruin the whole GB exp. The point of them (The devs) doing it this way is, so we could get an “outsiders perspective” of what it is like to be a GB. We already know the story of the original GB as a team, now it's time get the exp first-hand from the “outside” so to speak. Playing as “the rookie” also helps the players (us) immerse themselves into the story better.(*peter)

I've never played GOW as I'm a PS3'er so didn't know that, but that's what is needed on more games I think, I miss that!

So, if the wii version does, will the PS2? That's a port of the wii isn't it? Would deffinatley pick the PS2 version up aswell if it had local co-op.

The whole online multiplayer is great and alot of fun, I just feel it sucks for those of us not online. I made the mistake of buying mobile broadband when I moved out which isn't compatable.

I do understand PB's point though, personally what I want is split screen, but some further single player game modes are always welcome too, some extra “missions” and goals to complete to expand the game.

Atleast we have a GB game coming out though and I'm just happy with that and will be glad to have any game mode

I hope there is split screen so my wife and I can play in multiplayer. I wanted co-op and yes, they could have done it like countless other games: reduce the on screen detail in split screen. Maybe they will add it.
