Well, apparently, the whole “Ackroyd and Ramis writing the script” for the Ghostbusters game was mostly a marketing ploy. Here's the link to the Ackroyd and Ramis interview that reveals this:

According to Ramis, “The crassest way I can put it is that they couldn’t have paid us enough to give it the time and attention required to make it as funny as a feature film.”

Sorry, Dan and Harold did right the script for the game, like it was said, you must be thinking about the supposed GB 3 movie.

I always thought of them as being more of a editor to the script, along with co-writers.

We ALL know that TR made a story, along with other storys (Such as ghostbusters in hell. Uggh.) and presented them to Dan and Harold, and kumar.(NO.) Dan and Harold made there pick and then re-wrote most if not all of it to give it the ghostbusters tone.

Aykroyd wrote Hellbent and some others to try to get a third movie rolling but they never panned out. TR wrote out the entire script for the game and then tried to get likeness rights for the guys, when they got the likeness rights TR got a unanimous agreement from the guys to actually do the voice over stuff (they were going to get sound alikes but the guys insisted they could make time to do VO) then Harold and Dan approached TR and asked if they could help with the script which was already written, the guys at TR were more than willing for the help of Ramis and Aykroyd so they traded some drafts back and forth, as Dan said they basic storyline and vernacular was already there they just had to change up the dialogue to fit what they thought the character would say. So Aykroyd and Ramis had some slight input on the story but their real contribution was re-writing a lot of the dialogue, then Murray came in and changed a lot of stuff on the spot but that's another story.

So in short Aykroyd and Ramis really wrote the dialogue and not the story. I know this because of several interviews but I'm too lazy to find them right now, I know that one is the IGN “Mass Hysteria” feature where Dan talks about him and Harold trading drafts back and forth with TR. And the other is with Drew Haworth and Brendan Goss talking about how the guys got involved in the project, and how they were going to use soundalikes and such.

Wrong, In one of the earlier dev blogs on IGN it was said that both Dan and Harold laughed when Hellbent was brought up and the story idea was immediatly dismissed.

After that I guess I agree.

No they didn't want to use that for the game but Aykroyd had come up with the idea, there was an interview somewhere where he was talking about New Jersey being a gateway or something and the guys meeting “Lou Sifler” I can't remember this was a long time ago but he originally did come up with that idea but didn't want to recycle it into the game.

Actually, both Harold and Dan wrote the game script.

As it says in the credits of the game.
