Hey guys, brand new here. Once I found out about this game I went crazy, as like most of you did. I was so excited that I wrote a little response about what I wanted from this game, so I'm sorry that it touches topics that you have already discussed. Here it is:
GHOSTBUSTERS THE GAME
Ok, ok, if they're going to do this then they need to do it right, there has to be 4 player co-op. Getting to drive through New York City in the Ecto-1 doing various odd-jobs around NYC. It should take a considerable amount of teamwork to catch a ghost. 1st player's job is to shoot at the ghost trying to control it, the second player helps the 1st player contain it while the 3rd tries to trap it. Since it makes sense for there to be more than one ghost at a particular job, the 4th player helps the 1st and 2nd contain different ghosts at the same time, i.e. running back and fourth between them helping them contain ghosts at the same time while the third, once again, tries to trap it. You can try this with different combinations of the team having either Proton Packs or Slime guns from the sequel. When all the remaining ghosts are in the trap, you have a time limit to get back to HQ and put him in the Ghost deposit or else he will break out back into the city while you are driving, causing you to repeat the process where ever you happen to be.
You should be able to customize whichever Ghostbuster you choose to be, that includes what suit you want him to wear (the beige jumpsuit from the first film or the darker one from the second or a completely new one just for the game) and weather or not he has a proton pack or the Slime gun from the 2nd film. With succsessful jobs comes successful cashflow, which should allow you to buy technical upgrades and body customizations for the Ecto-1. Just for fun there should be an option for if you want to smoke a cigarette, for some reason that would be cool. In spirit of the 1980's cartoon show “The Real Ghostbusters” there should be a level in the campaign where a giant ghost/monster is out destroying the city and the player's have to release the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man to go and fight him, with the player assuming the role of the Marshmallow Man, respectively. The controls for this level should involve the Electronic Arts's popular boxing franchise “Fight Night”' fighting scheme, with the control stick being the main option for throwing devastating, colossal punches. The two tyrants crashing into each other, smashing down Cars, buildings and of course, churches, that happen to be victimized during the battle, with chunks of rubble and debris free-falling down into the frantic, fleeing nightlife of the city.
I Think they should be able to fit the whole Statue of liberty thing into the game, the player getting to control it once again through the city as seen in Ghostbusters II. The first theme song was done by Ray Parker Jr, then for the sequel Run DMC did a sort of faster, revamped version. I think itÂs only appropriate for Dr Dre to produce his version for the game, especially since the game is set in the early 1990Âs, and because I am naturally Dre biased. Breaking objects such as tables and cars and damaging things as in state or public property, buildings etc should deduct money from the ultimate possible sum of which you are able to earn from each job.
Speaking of destruction, in the game Crossing the Streams should, and will most likely be Extremely Dangerous. The act of crossing the streams should generate a negative reaction with unfathomable collateral damage, taking out anything and/or anyone in itÂs path, ultimately causing you to not only lose the whole pay check from the current job you happen to be on, but also result in the GhostbustersÂs being sued by every city, county, and state agency in New York, taking away from your total accumulated sum of money you have earned from all of your previous paranormal exterminations. If legal action taken against the Ghostbusters occurs excessively, they will be in a dire loss customerÂs which ultimately gives the company no choice but to file for bankruptcy (aka You Losing The Game).
I would like an RPG element added into the game, the possibility of your chosen Ghostbuster leveling up in different skills with new abilities and equipment to be acquired would most likely make the game not only more fun, but also make the gamers want to approach the game differently from various members of the team, giving the game a much higher replay value. If the player chooses to play Campaign alone, I would like an option that allows the player to be able to switch from Ghostbuster to Ghostbuster, leveling them up in different ways through out the game, choosing the right combination of higher and lower skills between each member gives a new element of strategy to the game which, indefinitely, would make the game more fun for the player to experience.
Come October of 2008, I and plenty of other gamers, old and young, will definitely know Who They Are Going To Call.
