Please excuse me if something like this has already been mentioned but anyone remember that fanmade game a couple years back? The one set on the 12th floor (i'm assuming) of the hotel where you just run around seeing how many times you can capture Slimer before running out of traps? At the time i thought, “man what an awesome fanmade game!” Wasn't til last night that it struck me. That both that and this new game look very similar. The way you move and can capture the ghost and guide them to the trap. Perhaps it's just my conspiracy laced mind or too much spare time to ponder, that maybe that fanmade game wasn't really fanmade at all. That maybe it was actually done by sierra? As a “test” to see if people would like it. Just a thought, it's out there i know but just thought i'd mention it. :-)

You may be able to find it with some digging in the Fan Projects forum, although it was literally just running around one level trapping Slimer for a very short amount of time.

Lanny, where'd you get that ‘Subway Ghost’ piece from?

Here's the G4 game footage uploaded at HyperFileShare.com, hope you're able to download this without incident:

The old game isn't actually supposed to play along the lines of the movie, you're supposed to be a new GB franchise (yeah, that doesnt really ring true, but this was the intention) so you're purchasing the equipment from GB:I.

You know - I've never though about it like that…I always thought they just got that premise of the the movie wrong, having you buy already made equipment from an outside source. Like a “Doc Brown” or something , and not that Egon, nor Ray had built it…

Now it actually makes sense (*peter) :p . But why you still have to drive all the way across town to get the stuff is beyond me (*egon) …

You can watch the legend that is David Crane unveil the game here http://www.archive.org/details/Computer1985_6 he explains the franchise concept a little.

He probably put in the “zuul” temple to try and link the game to the movie (although, the game was in production before the movie was released) And in the original version he is seen playing, the game ends right after dodging stay-puft.

I wonder if some of the material found in the book Making “Ghostbusters” by Don Shay will be in the game…?

Lots of material was cut out of the film due to cost, for example Gozer was still to make another transformation before the end.

I've been lurking here for years but never bothered to post until now – the cheesiness and great mid-1980s feel of that video made my morning!

Why is the original GB game so much better than the NES version?
