Official Ghostbusters Minecraft Discussion (New Server Launched)

To celebrate the holidays and the (very soon) end of my hiatus / launch of Ghostbusters.org, I started a Ghostbusters Minecraft SMP server. Please read this thread for all of the connection details.

The server is brand new and I want to keep the rules simple and basic. No griefing, be nice to each other and I encourage you get together with other people on the Ghostbusters Fan Project forum and come up with community fan projects you can collaborate on.

Before you connect to minecraft.ghostbusters.org, you should check out these awesome Ghostbusters skins. You can skin your avatar and everyone else in the game will see it. Just login to Minecraft.net and edit your profile.

This is very much a work in progress, so check back and I look forward to seeing what we all build together.

We now have a safe house near the spawn point. Please be on the lookout for torches (and a giant tower of lava), you will find it.

If you need anything to start out, the safe house is stocked. Craft and mine all you need in that area before you venture out and begin working on a project of your own.

Spent a good portion of the evening on there with Chad. Made some decent progress. Even with the progress our neighborhood looks like a demilitarized zone, there is severe metal fatigue in all the load baring structures and the wiring is just not adequate enough for our power needs.

I popped in the other night for a few minutes. Having not played much Minecraft as yet, I promptly left and decided to try some singleplayer to learn the basics and whatnot.

It's amazingly addictive, but i'm having trouble with the game slowing down my PC badly. Anybody else have this issue?

Is it immediately lagging from the moment you get on or is it slowely getting worse the longer you stay in game? If the prior I suggest restarting your computer. That usually corrects the problem. If it is the latter then I am not sure. Could be something else gobbling up resources.

For anyone else interested in joining..we are still in the process of building the firehouse (post ECU collapse in GB1) and could use the help :-)

I got it working, just have to put graphics on fast and tiny view distance. for some reason it is eating up all my RAM at times, then it'll run smoothly and back and forth constantly.

I'm in to help with things. Getting a little bored mining on my own in singleplayer.

We are in the process of making the basement. If you log into the server, just head north from the spawn point (watch your step) and you will see the firehouse (can't miss it….it's got a pillar of lava coming out of it vertically and is partially on fire).

If you continue work on the basement level, be careful…the aforementioned Lava.

I will be on for a little while myself once I get home from work.

I was all ready and minecraft savvy last night, and decided to venture into the server to have a bit of a look and it's not accepting connections? was a little dissapointed, especially with the recent update! i can finally construct a giant stay puft!

The Minecraft server is undergoing revision (i.e. is being brought down so Chad can activate a whitelist) as well as to set up some stuff in private without others interfering.

It will be reopened again soon with any luck.
