Guess I should have really posted this here. Bad news for our overseas associates:

Ghostbusters™ PKE Meter Shipping Restricted
November 22, 2010
By Matty

Ghostbusters™ Fans,

For all the Ghostbusters™ fans in the US, we’re bringing you a prop replica of the PKE Meter that’s as film-accurate as possible. For countries in Europe, there are stricter regulations on product warnings so we had to make a tough decision: put lots of warnings all over it and compromise the accuracy, or restrict shipping. It was hard because we love our fans in Europe, too, but in the end we decided to make it as film-accurate as possible. Here are the countries that can’t accept shipment:

•Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Great Britain.

We are sorry this means that it can't ship to Europe, and we are hoping fans in the US appreciate the effort we made to bring them an awesome product.

—Matty

Sorry y'all!

As I read this (a few minutes ago), I logged in into the Matty forums asking if Mexico will be a shipping safe zone.

I should have this replica.

That sucks… does this mean that if other people buy them for others over-seas, that they can't ship them there either?

Definitely seems odd to me.

Can we in the UK still get it from someone off ebay though? Or these boards?

So we have a week to figure out how to bypass this? There's got to be a way, there's always a way…

Really bad decision. Could have just made labels and by chance made them easily removable.

The recommendable way to get around it is to locate some US fans who are willing to order a bunch of PKEs on the behalf of the UK/European folks, resorting to eBay isn't the best method as you've got to contend with sellers inflating their prices in relation to demand, and how much they figure someone will pay out of desperation.

The PKE meter news is pretty bad, they haven't handled it in the best way at all. I'm sure they could've discovered this a while ago and maybe even rectified the problem by producing some easy peel stickers with the required information. I could be wrong, I have no idea what the regulations are regarding the regulations. It doesn't bother me personally as I genuinly did not want one but it's a real shame for those that did.

What happens if someone else was to send the item overseas to european customers? Is there a risk of accountability due to the lack of product warnings? I assume not and it's just one of those things a company can't be seen to be doing knowing it doesn't meet the regulations, but they could easily get through if they were actually posted out.
