Official Mattel PKE meter thread

The PKE meter news is pretty bad, they haven't handled it in the best way at all. I'm sure they could've discovered this a while ago and maybe even rectified the problem by producing some easy peel stickers with the required information. I could be wrong, I have no idea what the regulations are regarding the regulations. It doesn't bother me personally as I genuinly did not want one but it's a real shame for those that did.

What happens if someone else was to send the item overseas to european customers? Is there a risk of accountability due to the lack of product warnings? I assume not and it's just one of those things a company can't be seen to be doing knowing it doesn't meet the regulations, but they could easily get through if they were actually posted out.

What ToyGuru over at Matty.com has said is that they would have to scribe warnings in to the PKE Meter and that would of ruined the movie accuracy of the product.

What I say is that warnings like this can be found on many products from mobile phones to remote controls, but what those manufacturers do is scribe the warnings inside the battery compartment so they do not effect the outside appearance. Matty could quite easily of done this but have taken the quick, cheap and easy route and banned them outide of the USA.

Matty could quite easily rectify this problem by saying they will manufacture a second batch with warnings on the inside for international markets.

After all if we don't get this prop then we may not get any future props like the Ghost Trap or Ecto Goggles and definately no Proton Pack.

I'm only speculating here, but I'm wondering if the laws effecting product labeling have just recently changed.

I picked up one of the new “Tron: Legacy” Light Cycle Toys and was surprised to find a rather lengthy FCC notice taking up the majority of the toys underside. It's painted on in bright white lettering (against the toys black underside) and surrounded with even more labeling molded into the shell of the toy.

Included in the toy's packaging was a ridiculously long, multilingual, insert that droned on about compliances and safety.

…All for a toy that just contains a light in the front.(*egon)

It's the lawyers' world; we just live in it… until they figure out a contractual obligation to the contrary.

I have never been more happy to live in Australia. So glad I can still get one.

I'm really impressed. It only took me 4 minutes to complete my order last night. Usually takes me 20 minutes.

I picked up two this morning, one for me and one for a friend of mine. It took a little longer than usual to get through, because it kept loading the item screen over and over, even after I added them to my cart. But, it was a minor grievance to get what has been my most anticipated item thus far.

Whelp, I guess it'll save me some money…

Man, after the RGB box set, the delay on the video game and now this, I think I picked the wrong country to be born in!

I was doing the same, but my friend looked so uninterested, that I ended buying the both pke meters to me: one to open and the other to keep unopened. XD

I very much wish I could have done that, but after the four 12" figures and one PKE, my current resources (a recent bonus lol) was spent.
