The PKE meter news is pretty bad, they haven't handled it in the best way at all. I'm sure they could've discovered this a while ago and maybe even rectified the problem by producing some easy peel stickers with the required information. I could be wrong, I have no idea what the regulations are regarding the regulations. It doesn't bother me personally as I genuinly did not want one but it's a real shame for those that did.
What happens if someone else was to send the item overseas to european customers? Is there a risk of accountability due to the lack of product warnings? I assume not and it's just one of those things a company can't be seen to be doing knowing it doesn't meet the regulations, but they could easily get through if they were actually posted out.
What ToyGuru over at Matty.com has said is that they would have to scribe warnings in to the PKE Meter and that would of ruined the movie accuracy of the product.
What I say is that warnings like this can be found on many products from mobile phones to remote controls, but what those manufacturers do is scribe the warnings inside the battery compartment so they do not effect the outside appearance. Matty could quite easily of done this but have taken the quick, cheap and easy route and banned them outide of the USA.
Matty could quite easily rectify this problem by saying they will manufacture a second batch with warnings on the inside for international markets.
After all if we don't get this prop then we may not get any future props like the Ghost Trap or Ecto Goggles and definately no Proton Pack.
