Real Ghostbusters Retro Action Figures

The 8" Real Ghostbusters Retro Action figures will be released in early 2011 and will be made available at Toys R' Us and at online retailers. The first wave of figures will be Peter Venkman, Egon Spengler, Ray Stantz and Winston Zeddemore.

Yeaahhhh…. I don't know how I feel about these. I've already got a portion of my wall devoted to GB figures, Movie Maniacs, and 2 Iron Maiden “Eddie's”…. might have to pass on these.

I personally don't think I've been excited about a toy since…well, since I saw those empty pegs at K-mart marked, tantalizingly, “Ghostbusters” in the summer of 1997. I guess it's because, as much as I love the movies (especially the first one), the cartoon's what “brought me to the dance” as were, so I'm glad Mattel's finally acknowledging it.

Would an all-plastic line along the order of the actor likeness figures have been better? Maybe. But Mattel gets a ton of credit for trying something a little different, and making something that will go out into stores–meaning we won't have to fight the Mattel server being crashed by He-Man nerds on new figure days. :-)

I want these so bad I can taste it.

id have to agree with mattel doing something different. I really like this line too and im so happy its in stores. Ive dreamed of the day id see ghostbusters back in stores and the feeling of a good ol chase again. Checking the stores every stock day waiting to see them on the peg and get that little kid feeling again.

Sweetness! Someone on GBFans was nice enough to try to get stuff at SDCC for some people… I was lucky enough to get in on this and out of the 20 RGB Venkmans he bought he only got 3 Green Ghost versions!

Yeah - that was really nice of him to offer on that. Too bad the distribution on the Green Varient really sucks! Off to Ebay for me.

The eBay prices for the green variant are RIDICULOUS right now… One sold for $89… there are others already above that and nearly every Buy It Now is $120+.

Crazy.

Tell me about it! The 89.00 is the cheapest I've seen. I think that and only 1 other have gone for less than 100.00. Everything else has been well over! With a 3 out of 20 chance I guess this was a lot rarer than we had hoped.

My plan had been to get 2. One to open and one to keep MOC, but at this rate, I might just have to suck it up, pay the scalpers (damn them anyway) and probably stick to one.
