Thanks for your help.

If push comes to shove then, I am okay with opening the package to prevent the batteries from leaking.

I received my Venkman variant today. There is a significant white spotting all along the bottom of the card on the front and back. Unfortunately, I don't have the means right now to get a picture of it.

This seller accepts returns, and I was wondering if someone who knows more about this type of thing than I, could tell me if it likely came from the factory this way or maybe this was something that happened in the hands of the seller?

That is meant to be there to make the card look old. I have several of the Venkmans (2 regular, and 1 variant) and they all had that exact same white stuff. Its actually a specific pattern printed on the card, cuz it was identical on all of mine.

Dr. V. is right. I thought the same thing when I got mine in the mail, but after a very detailed inspection (because I was thinking the same thing you were) I noticed that the white spotting along the bottom does not appear on the label/sticker/whatever it is that is down in that corner - like that label was printed over it. Then, as Dr. V. noted, I noticed that the pattern of the white markings was the same on each figure.

I decided to take out the batteries as I am returning to college at the end of the week, and do not want to risk my figure getting damaged while I am gone.

Also I discovered something interesting about the boots Peter is wearing. If you lift up the jumpsuit, you will find that the boots he has look more like the boots worn on the original Star Trek television series rather than the military style that was drawn in The Real Ghostbusters.

Yup, I replaced my Pete's boots with some far more accurate MEGO combat boots (couldn't stand the ones that came with the figure).(*peter)

Well, the only combat boots I could find for the Mego toy line were for the “Pota” figure from “The Planet of the Apes” (and “Action Jackson”, but they apparently used the same boot mold for both figures).

The pair I bought appear to be reproductions as they were listed as “new”, came individually wrapped, and had a “Made in China” sticker on them.

I bought mine from the seller “mrmego” who so far has had the best price I've seen on Ebay, and who lists the boots two pairs at a time (I've purchase four pairs a boots from him… two pair have already arrived, and the other two pair shipped yesterday).

I'm sure many will wince at the prices (considering the reactions to the Hotwheels Ecto-1) but considering that these are accessories for vintage toys it's not too surprising.

Anyway, they're made from a much softer, much thinner, material than the boots that come with RGB Venkman …which was a little off-putting at first… but this actually allows for a bit more poseability as it frees-up Pete's (otherwise useless) ankle joints. Please note that, again, I think the pairs I bought are reproductions… I don't know if they differ in any way from the actual vintage boots.

The soles are about a 1/4 of an inch shorter then Pete's stock boots which (I think) looks more proportionate to the figure's scale.

And, being a retro accessory, they have a mold seam down the center of the entire boot… but a little careful scrapping with an exacto knife can make it less noticeable.

Overall I'm much happier with them. I'll see if I can post a comparison photo in the next day or two.
