Sorry to disappoint you Skull, but it's not a racer. I already rented it. It's just a video game version of Back to the Future…The Ride. It's pretty fun, but it gets old very quick.

About the whole “why do you need a time limit if you're in a time machine” thing - have YOU ever calculated the nuances of time travel? HUH?!? I think NOT. There are all sorts of little difficulties that could pop up. SHEESH.
