I have never played a RPG in my life, could someone explain, and also tell me how it will be played over the net?

Basicly you play a ‘tabletop’ game in any chatroom, generally though its in IRC…though yahoo or, heaven and hell help you if you decide to, AOL chat. While it hasn't got the same flavor as a ‘everybody is actually there in the room with you’ game its quite enjoyable…the main advantage is that unless you piss the GM off or the GM plays favorets there is no chance at godmodding.

I'm not sure, Em. But I think they were planning to run a game or two on the boards. Which is something totaly new to me…

Well, what i have in mind right now is people will call there actions, I will make a role here at home and tell you is you failed or not. It is a big matter on trust. Infact I could run a game now, we have enough correct characters…and not much technical knowledge is needed from the players…

Has anyone here tried using an WAN RPG app like GRIP (Generic Role-playing for Internet Players)? I've talked to a number of people who've used it for other games and they recommend it. The game master can share maps, a piece at a time as the players explore, players can see one another's characters (and their pictures), as well as the usual chat and VOIP. And the app has a dice function so dice rolling doesn't have to be purely a trust thing (which is what brought this to mind GBVA).

Check it out, anyone who's interested.
