People and the Ratings...

I've been reading a lot of fan fics lately, a lot of good ones, and there are a few people who give a lot of these stories bad ratings, I look on their profiles and they haven't put in any fanfics themselves, maybe they should try writing before being so quick to judge…

Yes, I feel bad when people give my stories bad ratings, especially when I find out they've never tried writing themselves, but I'm glad that frequent writers give me their opinions on what they think

Yes, some of the most pickiest critics are those that haven't even written anything in their life. So, my question is, how can they be critics, if they don't know what they're talking about? I mean, that's what we all are, critics, at least when we rate a story.

i know. i see all these people giving me these bad ratings, and here i am, thinking how the hell people that have no idea what it takes to exerpt this talent that us fortunte people happen to have, have the right to treat my stories, and everyone elses, like dirt?

i say you have to be registered, and logged on to read these stories, and then have to press a button that says, “Ive read this story” before they can rate it.

naw that wouldnt work.

why do people do this kind of thing? does it give them some kind of power? I feel that anyone that does such an action to make one feel like dirt for no particular reason, should be banned from the site for at least a month and a half! it'll teach some to mess with people that didnt do anything except show their talent to those that learn to appreachiate it!

do we all agree?

It's the human condition, i'm afraid. Some people's lives are so miserable that they have to drag others' down into the dirt.

Can't help it. It sucks, but we can't help it.

It's true that some stories out there aren't….well, all that good. But all the writer needs is a little guidance. Instead of rating stories at “1” and sayin “dude!, this is a really crappy stupid story, what's your prob?” Tell them how it could be better, in a nice way!

Since you guys are paying attention to which raters are experienced writers or not, I say you should just pay attention to those, as well as anyone who has constructive criticism or good explanations to back their rating.
Because of those who post ratings of 1 with no backing, averages go down, so I would suggest not paying attention to the averages as much either, because there are a lot of good fanfics that have lower averages because of this.
That's just what I think.
