Here is my list of possible actors/actresses:

Jack Black - I have no doubts that this guy will be a Ghostbuster. He is perfect. He possesses the cleaver
wit, heart, and dorky persona just great enough to be a Ghostbuster.

Jimmy Fallon - To appeal to a younger audience, you need some younger comedians that stand out from the
rest. While Jimmy is a goof ball, I also think he can pull off an attention to detail that most of the other SNL actors of this time cannot. Jimmy isn’t “cool” he’s a dork, so that adds to his success as a
candidate.

Christina Ricci - A women Ghostbuster is ESSENTIAL!! I believe Christina Ricci is “different” enough to become an archetype for a female Ghostbuster. It’s believable. Whearas, cast Sarah Michelle Geller, and you’ll worry
about her breaking a nail. What appeals me to her? She seems like she’d be interested in the paranormal… call her “goth”, but I think it works. Plus she’s not “cool”, which is also very important. She seems like
she could play the serious/realizing roll amongst the bunch which stabilizes it from being just a bunch of comedians.

Conan O’Brian – We need a character who will spark fun in the crowd. Sort of a Peter, but in his own
style. And he’s the ultimate dork.
My big problem with Conan is that I am not sure if he can play a serious role…

This is my list for now, I am still searching for candidates though, so it could change. I do not believe we need to rely on the original cast to make
this thing happen. In fact, I think trying to “separate” Ghostbusters from the original actors is CRUCIAL to it’s success. Look at Star Trek… we made
the Next Generation, and you know what? It turned out better.

We've been through this a hundred times and everybody else has a different opinion. I respect yours and these actors are good in their own territory but let's not let them near GB3. Jack Black I just don't see fitting the bill. But that's the kind of logic the studio would use.

As for Jimmy Fallon, he might do a good job. He might. Maybe he would like to work with some SNL allumni. But I don't get why he “would appeal to a younger audience.” How many 10 year olds stay up late and watch SNL?

Christina Ricci. I doubt she'd want to do it. Still I think you're on the right track here.

Conan O Brian? What's with all the comedians? He, Fallon, and Black are all “funny” comedians. The great thing about the combinations in the first films was that each was a different kind of funny. Murray was a wiseass. Ayrkoyd was the boyish science nerd. Ramis was the completely serious who on occassion would crack a smile. Them being a team is what was funny. These new comedians don't go well together. Besides Brian hasn't been funny since he wrote for the Simpsons.

Well, I don't know if this is new to ya, but Ghostbusters is a comedy. I hope comedians are funny!

As for Conan, I am questioning his presence and acting ability (under serious curcumstances). But let's not compare him to a obviously bad choice like Adam Sandler.

I don't get your problem with Jack Black though, would you care to explain?

face, good for comic rules.

Paulday, sorry if I pissed you off. And I am aware of Ghostbusters being a comedy, but it's a unique comedy. Jack Black has, so far, only played crude characters in crude comedies. He's not right for GB3. As for Conan, I don't think he can act either. I do seem to remember a rumor about him rewriting Aykroyd's GB3 script. Anybody else remember this?

I thought about casting Sarah Michelle Gellar as Kylie in my movie (EGB fanfiction section if you want to read it) because a) she's so tiny like Kylie and b) she'd attract audiences. She has featured prominently in every Scooby-Doo trailer I've seen, and I think we all know why.
