Weaver Drops Big Ghostbusters 3 Spoilers?

We're not sure just how big these possible spoilers for Ghostbusters 3 are, but we wanted to caution readers that they might not want to know the following yet.

In an interview with Channel 4, Avatar star Sigourney Weaver was asked about possibly appearing in Ghostbusters 3.

“I'm afraid to say that it *is* happening, I hope people are excited about that,” she said. “I don't know if I'm going to be in it, I have gotten a couple of calls asking ‘would you read the script.’”

“I know that my little son, Oscar – who was kidnapped from me – I think he has grown up to be a ghostbuster,” she added before spilling another, even bigger bit…

"I might be in it and I see nothing wrong with being in it, although I don't think I will have a big part in it. I think Bill Murray has a little more to do with it - he might be a ghost.“

”The Office" co-executive producers Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky are writing the screenplay.

Please read Castewar's post on this matter before getting too excited, a lot of it is regurgitated rumors that had been debunked (and are being flung around the internet by the attention-starved Ain't it Cool News):

It’s not helping that Ain’t It Cool News, in their usual, hysterical, and non-contextual way, have posted this as a real possibility. Nothing’s impossible, but when measured against recent comments on the matter some months back, in which it is referred to as a joke from ten years back when a third movie was first attempted, it’s very unlikely.
The fact that Weaver her self made a joke production out of spilling these particularly beans means it shouldn’t be take that seriously at all. But then, Ain’t It Cool News would have one less post today, and their motto ain’t “less is more.” Oh look, everyone else has taken it at face value too! Oh good. Thankfully, Slash/Film is being smarter about it.
