Possible Ghostbusters fan game in the woks

Hello all, I wasn't particularly sure where to post this, but GB Doom seemed most appropriate, seeing as how that relates to Ghostbusters games. Speaking of which, it's too bad that the guy has apparently abandoned the project. I've been following it for a LONG time, and it's just such a tragedy. Well, at least it got to the point that it did, because believe me, some of the earlier versions looked GOD AWEFUL. All we can hope for now is that one day he releases the unfinished resources to the public. There's several levels and monsters, as well as the slime blower, that were completed but because they were part of the Ghostbusters 2 project, which was in-progress the last time he updated, they were never released. I think I'm going to try to get ahold of him again. Last time I did, he said that there was still hope, but that if he just gave up, he would release the stuff. I was even considering picking up the project in the event that happened. However, he seems to have disappeared completely.

Sorry about that, just felt I had to comment on GBD2, because I LOVE that project. Back to the subject of the post, I have been working on a Ghostbusters fan game. Actually, so far, I have only worked out the actual gameplay itself. I have no graphics, no levels, nothing whatsoever, except the actual action. My game is a 2d overhead game (like Zelda) where you control a ghostbuster and actually bust ghosts. That's the most important thing I've worked out so far, is that you actually catch and trap ghosts. I've made a demo with 5 ghosts and one trap, and you get to catch one of the ghosts. Like I said, that's the only part worked out so far, there's not even ghost artificial intelligence or damage to the ghostbuster if a ghost hits him. You lay the trap down, get a ghost with your proton pack, and pull it over to the trap, and then activate the trap. Be sure to shut of your beam, or it will hold the ghost out of the trap. I tried to make it realistic, as far as busting goes. I'm not sure if I'm actually going to continue on this project or not, as I've run out of ideas for it, but I would appreciate feedback and suggestions (nothing too outlandish, though). The link is:

Instuctions are included in the text file. I apologize that the controls are so complex, but I wanted to make a game with realistic busting. Please, tell me what you think of it.

Well, I'm glad to see SOMEBODY has shown interest in my work. Actually, I wrote it in Qbasic. If you know anything about programming, I'll be happy to send you the source code for it. Meanwhile, I think I'm going to go back to working on it.

That's pretty cool. Although, the controls need some working with. Were you only susposed to have 1 trap? I couldn't set anymore, or trap more ghosts.

To answer your question, yes, I know, I only put one trap in at this point. I haven't gotten around to adding the ability to set more than one trap yet. By the way, I've been working on it somewhat, and I've added code to allow for levels to be added. It will be where you walk off the edge of the screen onto another screen, like in the original Legend of Zelda. Hmm… Maybe I should just call it Legend of Ghostbusters? Just kidding, that's too weird. By the way, what exactly do you mean about the controls. I'll see what I can do, but I need specifics as to what you do/don't like about them. If I get around to making a next release, I plan on having it with some basic graphics and a simple level, and it will be overall much more like an actual game than this. Once again, glad to see interest in it, it gives me encouragement to continue working on it.

wow! Amazingly simple yet strangely addictive! It works on so many levels wink Maybe a midi of the GB theme in the background would be cool or something like that, or some other stuff mentioned above with the traps…can't wait for future updates! smile I'm going to play it again now..hehe

I like the way it's coming along, I would love to help in anyway possible, and if there's anything you need I'd love to try and help you. You're bringing to of the best thing ever together. The Legend of Zelda and Ghostbuster. And in the best way Zelda was ever made, the original. I love the classics like that, and I've got some programs for game making and all if you would like for me to help. I like the idea, and the controls aren't that bad actually. Just kinda look at some of the other games out there that use keyboard. The ones where there are like 20 keys for different things. Well just keep it up, and have fun. Good work! Oh and if you want my yahoo name it's Jesusfreak001_2000. Write me if you need help or someone to come up with ideas.
