Hey I am building the proton pack as my graduation project and would like to know what I should use to make the gun. I have norman's plans but would like to know which to use: the wood or metal?

Unless you hae amachine shop, I'd go with wood. it's easier to work with and a lot cheaper too.

Roboprop is right, using wood is both cheaper and easier to use. Metal would take extreme heat so you could shape it, not to mention there are some parts that would require welding. Either way its your choice depending on the weight of the gun when its finished.

You can build your proton pack our of styrofoam, except the base board. Once the styrofoam is shaped, cover it with body filler. When the body filler is dry, there will be a layer of metal over the foam. Sand the metal smooth and spray paint it black a couple of times. Hope this helps! I've been working with sheet metal in school.. you just need to bend it, then shape it around the handle.. and weld it.. I've been thinking about asking if I could do that..
