I was wondering about the special effects with Ghostbusters, I know that the proton stream in Ghostbusters was drwan on to the picture but what about Ghostbusters 2? I know it was five years after ghostbusters was made and the the speacial effects might have gotton more sophisticated so how did they did it?

i think they did it like in the first part, because the streams look not better…. i would say, on the DVD the streams in the FIRST PART are looking MUCH BETTER than the streams in the second part… the streams in the second part are looking so.. so… drawed, like in a cartoon! The ones in the first part were made much better i think!

The 1st GB movie,it was 9 layered animations to create the effect of the Proton stream. The digital revoloution happened between the 2 films, GB2 was Digital streams.

I like the lookof the streams in GB1 but the streams in GB2 are more beliveable, they had more control with syncing the digital to a strip of wall busting into flame :/

I think that the GB2 streams did look better than GB1. I do however think that if they'd combined the digital and the hand animated that it may have come out even better.

in GB 2 in the courtroom they cross the streams very often, and nothing happens, strange huh? smile

Actually, they don't.. you are not thinking about the third dimension.. it was very hard back then to make it look like everything wasn't 2D..

I have a few friends who mention that everytime they see the slimer or court scene… when they have the ghosts “caught” in the stream, the two steams never touch, they swirl around but always avoiding the other…

I just always wondered why they'd never crossed them by accident considering the whole method of entrappment is aiming multiple streams at one point or object… heh, what can I say, They have the tools, they have the talent.
