PS2 version - Do I need to return it?

Hello,

Has anyone else picked up the PS2 version yet? I just ask because the quality of my copy is awful, 25% of the cutscenes are glitched to all hell - out of sync, corrupted images, etc, and the damn game freezes almost every level.

Anyone else had this? It feels like a desperately rushed rip from the Wii version, but it's a real shame, because I'm very much enjoying it as a compliment to the next gen version.

So yeah, anyone experienced the same? i looked back through the topics but couldn't spot anything PS2 specific!

I don't understand why this is even a question.

If something glitches that badly, its clearly not working properly, and you should be returning it for a refund.

I could understand if you were simply asking if others have experienced the same thing, but without even returning it for the new copy you're entitled to to see if there's a problem with the game itself, or just that disc…

I have the same problem with mine, and it seems that everyone got a bad copy. Probably wouldn't do you any good to take it back.

Aside from the odd freeze, which is infrequent and only happened around five or less times (and could even be my Playstation 2 which was preowned), I've had no other problem with the Playstation 2 copy of the game. It's definitely not a poor port.

Have you checked for scratches?

Nope, it looked as new as the the day I got it. Also, none of my ps2 or ps1 games have a problem. Its been commonly commented on elsewhere that the ps2 game freezes. What version of PS2 did you get Kingpin?

The only bad cutscenes I had was the one with the boat. But when I replayed the game, all the others turned like weirds old painting animations :p

The game doesn't freeze on all levels for me. I had a scary problem at the end of the cemetery level, it's like the game wanted to die there on its last cutscene. Had to replay a few time before it survived.

But each time I'm playing the game, I need to reboot the console at least one to four time, when Im not lucky. Or the game freeze or the ghosts leave their area or just stay paralysed in the environment.

I think it's the game and not the console. Of course, it'll run better if it's clean.

I've found that I still like Ghostbusters enough to keep the game and enjoy it even with all its little problems. I just love to use the pack :p

Have you finish the game? Slime the team when they cross the streams on the final chapter…

I think it's weird there's no sticky topic for each consoles.

There's some stuff about the PS2… I still wonder why my links send to the forum's first page…

This a trick question?

No I misread you and then I couldn't edit a third time. I thought you had said you had no problems. I'm like, seriously, I need that copy! lol

Yeah the PS2 version really sucks, not due to it being stylized, but all the freezing. I think I've reached 20 freezes already and I still haven't beat it. The Return to the Hotel level was really bad on the freezes and I went a few times off to a blue void when going through the portals/Vortexs/Conduits.

A void? Don't tell me you didn't see the skyscrapers flying above your head?!

Listening to all the trouble people have with their game (20 time on the ice!), I think my version is not so bad after all… Put your PS2 up, make it stand, I was able to finish the cemetery level that way… well, after I put it flat again :p

About the scratches on the disk, that's a good one.

I bought my PS2 copy today. I'm loving it, despite the freezing. It autosaves frequently enough so that I don't lose too much progress when it does freeze…

You MAY want to clean your disc, no matter how clean it is. Mine hasn't had a problem since I took some Dawn dishsoap and a damp, soft cloth, wiped it clean, dried it, and put it back in. So, I'd definitely consider doing that.
