Some recent stories over on Proton Charging about filming locations have made me wonder lately. In GB 2 when the GBs are digging the big hole in the middle of 1st Ave directly over the Van Horne Station…where exactly is that in NYC? Can we actually tell from the movie that that is where they are digging or was it the movie trick of close cuts and they could be anywhere? Im not from NY so to me, most places in NY still look too much alike for me to tell any of the boroughs or districts apart. Does anybody know or gone into this before?

It was half shot in New York, half shot in LA. The stuff featuring Dana and the guys investigating it initially (before they start drilling the street) is shot on location in New York, but everything that's meant to take place on First Avenue after Dana's “Well, what does that mean?” is shot on a similar street, complete with some set dressing to make it appear the same, in Los Angeles.

Unfortunately I can't give you the exact intersection on First Avenue where the New York scenes were shot… I just took a look on Street View and my recollection appears to be wrong… and unfortunately the Tourguide site is still not back up and running.
