"We Got One!" Official 6" and 12" Ray Stantz MattyCollector Photo Thread

Yeah, the quality control could use a little improvement, but I suppose that could be one of the downfalls to limited-production figures. At least in getting 2 of each, I can take my pick as to which to open, and the 6“ Ray I left in the package had his Pack partially split open at the top. With the prices being charged for these things, Mattel had better at least have a good replacement policy.

The 12” figure looks great and came in pretty good shape, but is it just me, or does anyone else sense that the wand handle where the hose connects seems attached a bit flimsily? With the hands' grip so tight, I'd be a bit worried putting in and taking the out the wand from the hands. The 12" stands pretty good on its own too, but I've had mine fall over a couple times, still. For display on a shelf or something, you'd definitely want something for added support.

BTW, some photo thread this has turned out to be…

I got a hold of matty-collector customer service today. Besides the sound on the call being a little crackily, their service department was very nice and courteous. They told me to ship the broken figure back to them (which they would reimburse me for the shipping) and they will send out a new one with in 5-7 days of recieving it. In the mean time, they put a figure aside for me to make certain that one is still available in the event that they sold out before they recieved my broken one. Unfortunately, if you add up all the shipping times and the 5-7 day reaction time, I won't get my new Ray for about 3 weeks.

Also, both my Rays had that split pack seam as well. I'd be curious to know if a different factory made the Rays than the Egons, considering the poorer quality, the change in packaging, and the change in material for the gun on the proton pack.

Well, it turns out that the stands are kind of hit and miss… The clasp is definitely big enough for both Ray and his pack… too big actually.

I had to reshape it a bit so that it would grasp the figure around the torso, instead encompassing Ray entirely (no big deal considering that the stands are only $2.49 apiece).

It took some finagling to get Ray in the stand properly, and in the end it only offers these top heavy figures a little extra support. Still, it should keep your figures from falling over every time someone walks by them… And, I rigged this up pretty quickly, so I may actually get better results with a bit more retooling.

Below is a comparison shot of stands with different clasps. The one on the left is far too shallow, and won't fit around both the pack and figure.

The one on the right is the one I'm currently using (pre-reshaping). Note how the clasp is about the same dimensions as the stand's base…

And here are the smaller stands I'm using for the 6" figures…

Ok, I'm going to list all the production issues regarding the Rays, so anyone can easily check for any anomaly when their figures arrive (I know I'll be inspecting them closely) :

12“ Ray Stantz
—————————————————————————————-
- Upside-down Name Tag (From GhostbusterPM over at GBFans Forum)

6” Ray Stantz
—————————————————————————————-
- Split Proton Pack Seam (No pic of this, from Fantasticf ?)
- Leg/Boot hooks inward (No pic either, reported by megahurtz and Cosmic-Riptide)
- Two Left Hip (See NoisyDvL5's Review : http://www.itsalltrue.net/?p=2303)
- Blank Name Tag (No pic of this either, from fishboard)

I think that's about all the major issues I remember from the post… Forgot any ?

And on another note, did anyone from Canada receive their figures ?

I think I'm going to leave my blank name tag 6" in his package, but I'll try and get a pic posted this weekend.

Here's my irregular Ray…

My figure arrived today! Whoo-hoo! Just a little over two weeks since since the shipping notice. A big improvement in wait time since last order.

Any updates on the pictures showing the various problems? I only bought the one figure and don't know if I'll open it yet.

I received mine in the UK yesterday and had no customs charges :-) No visible errors on mine so far but it's technically a christmas gift so cannot open it until then, but moc it looked great!

Much faster service this time, took a month for Egon!
