Rant about the comic (Unwarrented)

Unfortunately I think all the bickering and death threats've scared ‘em off. If you notice only LaPointe’s been posting, and that's just to pimp his sales. Even if they could do the series, I doubt there's any real desire to after all this.

I agree with Ecto-1, if I was Sebastian, after seing how “the fans” of Ghostbusters responded to my work, I wouldnt ever come back here, i'd prolly consider if I even wanted to come back to the franchise. (If he ever go the chance that it)

I am curious, though. The 88MPH site makes no new mention of any upcoming product or future license acquisitions. I don't want to be a total naysayer, but I wonder if this is just it for 88?

I mean, the TRON 2.0 license has already gone to Slave Labor Graphics, the Transformers book didn't happen, the ongoing GB series isn't seeming too optimistic, if 88 ever manages to get that hardback out, I wonder if that's just simply “the end”?

I'd hate to wish ill on them. They tried, and the 4-issue series was really good. I had planned to keep buying the ongoing. I am wondering if the hardback will be the final product we hear of from 88.

It's a shame. But if it were to happen, I hope we at least get the book without it disappearing into a possible cancellation limbo.

I'm still holding onto my order. I want to wait it out until some decision is made.

For the forseeable future, this is pretty much the end. Dabb has stated on another site that they'd all love to do another mini, but it's unlikely right now. And even if they could do another one, what incentive does Seb have? He made some rookie mistakes and instead of understanding by supposed fellow fans he gets ripped a new asshole.

Think this' just become a situation of he's gonna bust his ass to get these done and out so he can forget the whole thing ever happened. I know I would after all this.

But that's all purely speculation on my part; I'm not one of the few that has frequent contact with him. But I am thinking by Feb at least we'll get it.

That would be something, at least.

As I've stated before, when Image first started, they had some horrible publishing delays and well….

Look at them now.

It would be nice to see the same for 88, however unlikely now. Maybe they should try with something that's original and not a licensed property to see if they can pick up more steam that way. If they do, they should try for the licenses again. Surely Seb's got enough contacts in the industry to know of someone who wants to try something new, and would appeal to comic fans. It was a good team overall for the GB comic.

I still have all the TRON 2.0 promotional artwork on my computer.

I wouldn't use Image as an example, I've heard they've been having some delay issues again. I know Hunter/Killer's several months late (although I think Silvestri finally realized his own story made no sense and just gave up).

the Transformers book didn't happen

Actually, it Genesis did get published, albiet with a mishandling of supply and demand, and some unknown issues with refunds through Paypal.

As for Tron, we have to remember that it's licenced with Disney who have a reputation for being picky, probably a lot like the people who had final say on Masters Of The Universe

*sigh*

How I do miss Masters of the Universe.

I really liked the way they were handling that series.

yeah, blame Mattel for screwing the new MOTU comic. Their demands were unbearble for the creative team. That's the price you pay with a licenced prodcut though.

I think it's more a case of, paying a price for having an OTT licence department. Creative teams should be allowed to expand a little… otherwise it gets kinda stale.

That was something good about Ghostbusters… despite delays, there didn't seem to be any obvious shenanigans from licencing departments…
