German Computer Bild Spiele gives as overall score: “good” and calls the cost/performance ratio “adequate”.

+ screenplay from the original writers
+ great humor
- pretty difficult
- controlling not so good

~ “A good game, which mainly comes alive because of the great humor and the well presented original voices. The rest is alright, but not worldshaking.”

Man, there's a distinctly ‘average’ vibe to these reviews. Give us a blazing triumph review, someone!

the real allure of this game to fans is that it's a Ghostbusters game done right. To us after playing all those horrible games in the past this is perfect. But to regular gamers and non fans the gameplay that they've seen from almost every other 3rd person shooter (minus the trapping) is going to hold them back a bit in their position on the game. But at least all the reviews have stated that the Ghostbusters part of this 3rd person shooter is what makes it pop. From what I've read so far the 3rd person aspect of the game is what is getting the average reviews while the Ghostbusters part of the game is getting a shining ovation.

I don't know. To me, there seems to be an unrealistic and obnoxious standard to most of today's gamers. If it's not visually appealing like Crysis, isn't as “badass” and well rounded as Gears (the controls and overall game play that is), or cookie cutter and newb friendly as Halo 3, then I think most will give it an average review. A lot of the standards have changed so I take these reviews with a grain of salt.

I couldn't agree with what you are saying more. Because this game isn't ultra-serious or ultra-violent it seems like it's going to be compared unfairly. I really don't read too much into reviews, Gears of War is one of the top reviewed games for 360 but I found it really boring.

I agree that some game are just rated too high because of their name alone.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is another example. It just wasn't as good yet it got a perfect score on IGN.

Skanks…if I had the disposable income I would be doing the same thing as far as the memorabilia and collecting the physical games goes, though the collecting of the soundtracks I already do. Depending on the game and the composer, I love the music of games as well. I personally love the music from Square / Square-Enix…specifically that pertaining to the Final Fantasy meta series

trust me skanks when make the big move soon I'm going for ever piece of GB stuff I can get my hand on.

Found a couple of scores on GameFAQ's forums:

UK Gamemaster: Got an 85% (Wii version…?), saying the Wii version is probably the best.

Nintendo Power: Got a 7.5/10 for the Wii version

OPM UK: 8/10 for PS3 version

The only review that matters is the Onion AV Club.
