Wow, a video game analyst. That must be one cool job.
I personally don't see how The Godfather and Scarface games could be so popular and Ghostbusters doesn't stand a chance in hell.
I really, really hope that he's proven dead wrong.

Game Industry Analysts are usually as reliable as meteorologists…Actually scratch that…I think meteorologists have a better track record

::edit::

It wouldn't be the first time Mr.Pachter has been wrong. After all he was the man who predicted that World of Warcraft would fizzle out and die in “6 months to a year” after it's initial release and that after 4 months of it's initial release it was going to barely push million or so subscribers.

I am going to laugh my ass off if Atari, very easily sells, more than a million units

Whenever someone brings up the age of the films and just how crazy it is that someone's making a current-gen game based on them, I always counter that with even older movies turned into games.

The Warriors (1979)
Scarface (1983)
Godfather 1&2 (1972, 1974)

People really have short term memories especially since Godfather 2 :The Game was just recently released. Real reason could be that they just don't like the GB films.
Funny thing is that this game is bringing a fresh story to the table, we're not playing through the narrative of Ghostbusters.

Thats one of the reasons Douchavision dropped it. Bobby Douchbag said it made no sense to make a game without a movie coming out, but then he's a moron, so yeah.

So we can expect a lot of 8s from this point on?

Maybe Play magazine will give it a 9.. they are always good at recognizing games that get underappreciated.

You people seem to be forgetting, 8 is a WAY above average number, so it 7.

Most people think that 7 has become the average know-a-days, but that's not true. If you'll take a look for some more obscure IPs such as Battlestar Galactica on the Old Xbox. You'll find that there's a myriad of 5s and even 2s out there.

Big names titles almost always have 7-9 scores because of the budget that their made on and the fact that the developers actually have the tools/talent to get the job done.

A 8 is +3 from the average, and I'm quite proud to want to have that game in my collection.

MTV Video Games says:

The game itself is above-average; not great, but certainly fun to play. Your rookie ‘Buster isn’t as nimble as he could be, but the controls rarely get in the way of the good times. More than anything else, “Ghostbusters” delivers as an experience made by fans, for fans; it is a worthy addition to the franchise and a welcome return to classic characters we’ve come to know and love.

In some ways it's just too bad reviewers don't score based on an average but I noticed with Ghostbusters, that's actually a good thing by a small margin. For example the average of the score being 7.8 and 8.3 from IGN. Of course I'd still like an average for game comparisons. The TeamXbox review for example. Wolverine (another game I love) and Ghostbusters both got an 8.1, but if you go by the average, GB is still at 8.1 where as Wolverine is at 7.7. So while the review score may show they are rated the same, going by average, Ghostbusters is actually the better reviewed game by score.

If most of these scores are based on a 10 scale, then 5 is just average? Is that safe to proclaim? Then 8 or 9 (possibly 10s) for this game is great, way above average.
