Hey all,
I've had quite a time keeping this server running at a decent capacity. I'm in the process of moving the server over to a new provider with a better network (which is half the problem), a dual 1GHZ setup, 1GHZ ram, etc. This will be the ultimate setup for Ghostbusters.net. Right now the server is a PIII 700MHZ with only 128 MB Ram. The upgrade is needed, but most of the problems I'm having is due to the network it's being hosted on.
As for site updates, I hope you noticed that I changed the ability to watch video while not being logged in. You must now (after one free view) login to view video on the site. I also updated the plugin architecture on the GBN player, so please let me know if some people cannot view the videos. Also, please let me know if you are experiencing any problems that might be related to this minor update. I beleive I squashed all bugs (I qa'd on a MAC, PC, and SunOS(unix) machine).
As for updates, I have a HUGE update for the site (which is mainly composed of secrets, new additions, and UI changes) planned for early March. Depending on how easy this server switch will be, I will keep you all updated on that. This update will take Ghostbusters.net to the next level and I need the new server to pull it off. Please let me know if you have any new user features you would like to see on the new site. Since Ghostbusters.net was written entirely by myself it is easy for me to update and add things to the site which I feel will be good additions.
Unfortunatly due to increased costs in keeping the server running, I will be forced to put ad banners on the new version of the site in March. I will also be hosting Paypal and Amazon.com domation centers (feel free to donate a dollar or two). Also, in the realm of bad news, the site will be down for a 24 - 36 hour period while the DNS propagates to the new server. I will let you all know in advance when I plan on making the move. I will have to shut this site down first and grab all the database, uploaded user content, etc. and move it to the new server and then change the DNS settings (which will take 24 - 36 hours).
