I wasn't arguing with you, I was just pointing out the flaws in your proposed argument for those who may use the on screen defense.

And with a Franchise such as Ghostbusters, that has spanned over so many media outlets…the “on screen” argument has a lot of holes in it indeed considering how much the other media has expanded on the franchise compared to the movies.

If you take just what was shown on screen in the two movies as law then that doesn’t really leave you with much…

This has become pretty pointless now… you can find all the potential loopholes you want for people to possibly argue, the point is, to each his own and what anyone wants to take as canon is up to them. But it would be pretty moronic of someone to argue for an origin story for Slimer if one is not provided in this game, considering the various possible choices one has to go by.

As I said before I had heard the “by product of a ritual” background but didn't realize it was from the novelization of the movie

*Nope - It was from the West End Games Ghostbusters RPG:

Class V: These are ectoplasmic manifestations of definite but non-human form. Speculation includes the theory that Class V's are formed from emotionally-charged events or as side effects from ritual summonings. ( The spud Peter Venkman talks about so much was a by-product of the rituals that a cult held in the Sedgewick Hotel's basement.) These typically require extensive proton pack implementation to eradicate.

*Cheers.

If there really was some type of cult operating at the same location as the Sedgewick Hotel, you'd think the Ghostbusters would eventually look into it? That might explain why they would bother to build a level based on the Sedgewick ballroom, aside from it being a simple multi-player stage. If they discovered so much chaos going on in the bowels of the NY Public Library, then who's to say what could be found under the Sedgewick Hotel?
