So called "Kiddy Movies"...

You know what irks me?

What gets on my nerves?

I'll tell you what. People assuming that movies such as “Ghostbusters”, “Robocop”, or “Batman” are automatically kiddy films or made for children.

For example, I'm 21 years old and lately I've been wearing my “I believe in Harvey Dent” stuff, and relatives (such as my Dad) give me funny looks for being so much into a “kid” film.

That p****s me off. I don't really have the time to debate the issue so I just drop it.

Or how (usually with new people) when I bring up my love of Ghostbusters, sometimes I'm asked how old I am…Grrr.

Okay, and let's talk about Robocop. This one always cracks me up. In the late 90s/early 2000s my grandma bought the Robocop movies for us to watch at her place.

Well in case your memory is rusty, take a look at this:

Not to mention all the F bombs and cocaine wrapped up my favorite character Clarence.

The reason I always laugh is because the time my granny popped it in, and was hysterical that there was so much violence in a “kids movie”.

Now if you pay attention, you'll notice (Excluding Robocop 2) that the sequels did become more kiddy friendly.

I'm not for sure where I'm going with this, but it annoys me when people scoff at our “kiddy” movies.

Grrr.

That didn't really make sense since the only RoboCop film that was “kiddy” is RoboCop 3. The franchise only had 2 sequels, with the second one still being adult toned.

But they did try to turn the franchise into more of a kid franchise with the two RoboCop cartoons, the toyline and the short lived live action TV series in the early 90s. RoboCop has definately had it's run with bad inacarnations.

On a related note, geuss what's coming back in 2010?

Robocop is far from being a kiddy movie, to my view! It was fun in the past but now it's definitly not my cup of tea!

Ghostbusters is a Blockbuster! but the cartoon and toys did change its image for some people; forget about them, they're only no more interested in the movie.

Your frustration is easy to understand; you only wish to discover new people with the same interests (*egon)

I hate that poster. Doesn't look right.

It seems to put more emphasis on “Robo” and nor enough in the “Cop”. I think the original poster with Murphy stepping out of his cruiser was better.

I'm still excited for the movie, though.

I will probably end up going to see the remake just for shits and giggles, but it won't be the same. The original had charm to it that will most likely not be replicatedin the movie.

Hey, I'm not really liking it much either. Probably a really rush job.
