So GB3 is ACTUALLY the video game

Just read that on PC, and felt it required a blank slate of a post to start on. This really can't be a surprise to any long term Ghostbusters fan. On the one hand it's totally lame, and yet, I never really thought it could be pulled off.

I am sorry to see Dan's idea for it being wasted on the game, though. If the forces ever got around to approving another GB3, I'm sure that Reitman and Ramis would be able to fashion Dan's allegedly sprawling unfunny script into something usable. Instead, we're just going to see what Dan had in mind put into a video game, most likely without the very very crucial contributions from R&R.

Ah well.

It's a weird interview though because they talk in two different languages so it's part english and part french (?).

Wait a minute… No one actually confirmed that GB3 will only be the game, have they?

Dan just said there'd be “More of a chance to see the video game in ‘08.”

Doesn't mean a thing, right?

Maybe they're making the game to see how it does and then the movie. That's just me, but i want a movie.

It could be a false alarm–it could have been all along. It would go a long way to explaining why other than Aykroyd's one comment a month ago we've heard absolutely nothing about a GB3.

We shall see, I guess.

Maybe so. But does it really matter if the game is GB3 or not? It's still going to be Ghostbusters. If this game is their third big adventure then what do you expect? I just hope the game doesn't follow “Ghostbusters: Hellbent” story that Dan came up with. They should save that for the possible CG film. I'd like the game to bridge the gap between the flms.

But anyway, I'm glad to have more news.

what's so “weird” about it? the main language in Québec is french, and he was on a french TV station, so obviously the host would be speaking french… there's nothing “weird” about that…

also, they speak french for not even a minute so what's the big deal?

note aside, I didn't knew Dan could speak french, and he speaks well

At this time we do not know if the game is gonna be based or not on the Hellbent script but maybe it won't… Dan clearly said “the story in there will be really really cool and will take people back to the feeling of the old movie”… maybe he just didn't gave enough details concerning the story but if he didn't then maybe it would be a completely different story to the Hellbent one… let's keep the hope for a CGI Ghostbusters 3 movie…
