So the 360 patch is finally coming soon

Yeah. Microsoft had a hard limit on patch sizes. The Fall update eliminated that.

Originally I thought it was a meg over the limit, but it was much smaller than that, only a couple hundred kilobytes.

Thanks Skanker. Interesting about the limit. Sounds like it was a good idea for them to get rid of it, so that patches, like the one for GB, could be released. I would bet y'all's wasn't the only patch that was being held because of size issues.

The patch limit was originally there because not all 360's had hard drives and everyone needed to be able to patch.

Now, every new 360 has at least 4GB flash memory, others have something like 512MB of flash memory, and the old ones (along with every other 360) can use two USB flash drives (up to 16GB a piece) so that finally lets them get rid of the patch size requirement.

Stupid questions…Once the patch has been submitted, What does Microsoft do before they release it? How long before the release it?

Hey, Skankerzero…good evening.

You guys FIRST announced that you had completed and tested the patch back in June 23 and that it was currently awaiting “approval for distribution”.

Every announcement since then has just been a rewording of the status the patch has always had.

On 11/03, you wrote “It's going to be whenever Atari puts it up after the big Kinect launch.”

On 11/16, you wrote that the patch was in “submission”. Which essentially means that it's being “tested” by Microsoft.

From what I've gathered, the patch had been done since, at least June. But due to the size, it had to wait until the Kinect Update.

Once the Update hit, it was up to Atari to do whatever they wanted with the patch.

Thankfully, they decided to submit it to Microsoft for distribution…and NOW, it's up to Microsoft to do whatever they want with the patch.

Is this a fair assessment of the situation with the patch? I'm looking for answers.

Yes Greedo, that's what he's been saying…
it's up to Microsoft now to do their thing and release it
