So who else is snowed in?

My dad and I were supposed to be in Portland OR by now, although according to a relative who is snowed in without power we were better off not showing up. Our flight got to Oakland where it was decided all flights into that area were canceled (at least we were on the ground when it happened; while we waited to be rebooked I was talking to someone whose plane got all the way up to Seattle, circled for awhile and was forced to turn back).

So we ditched the plans entirely and returned to ABQ Sunday night…sans luggage (&^%$! that's almost all my clothes for this trip). At least we made it back up to Los Alamos before the snow started and we think the bags are still in Oakland….scratch that, Oakland has no idea where they are.

Was hit pretty bad on Friday. I shoveled for three days straight then the sub zero temp came in and froze everything over. Pretty grim and frostbitten over here :[ .

yea snow was so much more fun when I was little…now this much snow just seems annoying.

I was thinking about making a life size Pee Wee Herman snow sculpture to pass the time but Im just too lazy.

That's how it was here in Michigan when El Nino happened a few years back, we had temps in the 50s all the way til' January!

We got about 8 inches of snow the other night; I got to use the snowblower (and chewed up a newspaper that had been buried…oops). We're supposed to get more snow tonight, the roads aren't too bad though.

My cousin outside Portland still has no power and says she can't get out of her house (eek). My grandmother lives down in the valley where things aren't too bad, we're trying to convince my cousin to flee down there until her power is turned back on (grandmother is with another relative for an unrelated reason).

Still no luggage…all the airline will say is “you can file a claim in five days” (ok but will they accept my proof/estimate of the value of everything in there? while it's below the maximum liability, I don't know if you need an actual itemized list)

My mom in MA says things aren't horrible where we are, but it's still a mess (main roads are clear, smaller streets are not).
