That is EXACTLY what I was thinking of when I read this thread…
Walter Peck wasn't the only person to doubt that the Ghostbusters were authentic… Eventhough it was a really dramatic event, after time, I bet alot of people became increasingly skeptical/non believers… The easiest way for people to deal with something like that would be to just not believe… Either you can ditch your religion and start believing in ghosts/etc, or you can just deny it and say it never happened.
5 years after 9/11 the effect of what happened that day really started to wear off… It kind of became a joke to use 9/11 as a trump card in politics (like it did with Juliani in the last election) and people made up intricate conspiracies that made everyone stop and think for atleast half a second… As big of an event as 9/11 was, I bet no one thought that 5 years later we'd be back to our old bad habits and only think about that day when the anniversary rolls around… The same was probably true with the GBs, enough time of no ghosts passed that people started to doubt they were real.
