While the details are not fully in light at the moment I personally find this as yet more proof of how insane Activisions Management is

Interesting read. Probably Activision's way to just get more control over the COD games so they can whore them out like they want (which they couldn't do to GB, so they weren't interested…sorry, digression).

Like I said, the all details have not been brought to light yet, but even without all the details you cannot deny…the whole thing is frakkin wierd.

I mean how would you like it if you were at your place of employment hard at work then suddenly have assumedly big burly non-uniformed men who work for your employers employer unwilling to tell you what the feck was going on

This Article from Kotaku might shed some light on the situation.

Kotaku
But in the past 24 hours the long-rumored problems between Activison and IW have come a little more clearly to light. A source familiar with the studio told Kotaku that Infinity Ward has long bristled at the notion of any studio other than IW making a Call of Duty game. The studio heads' renewed 2009 contract with Activision affirmed that only Infinity Ward would be allowed to make Call of Duty games set in the modern era, according to the source.

Infinity Ward's two most recent games were 2007's Call of Duty IV: Modern Warfare and 2009's Modern Warfare 2. In between, Activision-owned Treyarch developed Call of Duty: World At War and is expected to making 2010's Call of Duty, keeping with Activision's annual Call of Duty cycle. Infinity Ward, according to conversations Kotaku has had with employees at the studio in the past, is a one-game studio and one committed to two-year cycles. For IW, making a Call of Duty annually would not have been consistent with the studio's current structure. (Tensions between the studios flared up in public online close to the release of World at War.)

Kotaku has continued to hear from sources that Infinity Ward wanted to make either a new intellectual property or a game set in the future — the two projects might be one and the same — but that Activision resisted that.

Wow. I was right. That really sucks for IW. Good find James. Appreciate the update.

And the Douchebaggery continues: http://kotaku.com/5484026/activisions-new-plans-for-call-of-duty-include-new-developer-new-genres

Looks like Activision wants to “Blizzardize” the CoD franchise. Also looks like IW won't be developing another CoD game

Thus an already mediocre series descends into even greater mediocrity.

I feel for the Infinity Ward staff, but I won't lament the loss of Call of Duty, “Replaying the same exact battle since 2003”.

I am not really lamenting the loss of the series (was never a fan ironically) I am more pissed off and dumbfounded at the douchbaggery by Activision

Wow - that last article really puts it all on the table… “The new leaders of IW are all Activision people and the fans can suck it.”

The last COD I bought was Modern Warfare 1. (Family picked me up a copy of World at War used for Bday last year so I accepted it happily and didn't return it), but this cements my position.

It would seem I was quick to open my mouth. It seems that IW may be at fault with this one…but Activisions actions were still douchey

News has surfaced that reveals Infinity Ward as not having received any royalties from Activision for Modern Warfare 2. Additionally, the developer may have breached their contract with Activision by holding meetings with other publishers.
