Soundtrack of the game.

Since it's ‘91 I’m hoping for more 80's music, maybe people from the first 2 movies could do some new music with a late 80's early 90's sound to it?

How about new songs that just sound like old songs? I cite Dirty Dancing and That Thing You Do as films were this has worked. (Don't give me crap about seeing these movies–she was worth it )

No. You want an authentic feel, you don't use new songs, even if they sound like the “oldies”.

Maybe the 1989 song “Ice Ice Baby” should be a song in the game. It would fit perfectly with the Ghostbusters theme . You know what I'm talking about .

On a serious note, I can't really think of any good songs from around 1990 that would work in the game. I do know that it should have some songs made for the game though much like the movie's had them. I agree with the idea that it'd be nice to have some of the artists that did songs for the first and second films to come back and make a new song or so. Maybe a third Ghostbusters “theme” song written by Ray Parker, Jr.

It'd actually be oddly appropriate, given the ice beam the Proton Pack'll be able to shoot.

I don't believe it'd be feasible to get all those artists who did pieces for the first and second film to do game music… even if it were, why? The only returning musical artist was Ray Parker Junior… you didn't hear something from Air Supply or the Thompson Twins in the second film… so why get all those groups together to do stuff for a game that's effectively ‘Ghostbusters 3’?

And then of course, there's getting all of the surviving artists together, if their groups have split up, writing the songs, recording them, sorting out the legal side… it's a lot of work for something that's unneccesary and they may not even be interested in doing work for a game.

Picking and choosing songs from 1989/1990/1991 is the most versatile choice, although it'd be nice if there were some more memorable songs…

That said, here's Wikipedia's details for 1991 in Music:

* “Smells Like Teen Spirit”
* “Bohemian Rhapsody”
* “Hotel California”

And presumably more there and available from 1990.

As well as songs from the time period would add to… well, setting the time period, I really doubt they'd set the mood of the game very well. I dunno. I'm not against the idea, I'd obviously prefer songs that fit the time period to songs that don't because it'd make sense and I would like it if today's popular artists didn't trash up the game's soundtrack where it has so much potential, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see what they do.

I'd rather see some original music in there and I'm sure we will (when I say ‘original music’ I mean stuff that sounds like a movie's score). Obviously I want to hear a lot of Elmer Bernstein's original score and the Ghostbusters theme, but other than that, I'm not really sure what else would fit. I'd definitely like “Savin' the Day” to make it into the game if they take from the movies' soundtracks though. That's one of my favorite songs from pretty much anything.

Agreed, “Savin' the Day” is one of the best songs on the commercial soundtrack and it'd be great to hear it in the game.

Too bad the soundtrack didn't include the movie version of the song. I always miss that added sounds in the song on the ost release.

I think Brannigan and the Alessi Bros. made a really bad choice not releasing their songs as singles, in both cases it was one of their best works. Thompson Twins, Bus Boys and Ray Parker Jr had the right idea.

Also I too would like new 80's music done by actual 80's bands i.e. how about a new Flock of Seagulls song?

Or any of the other thousands of one hit wonders the 80's had?
