Soundtrack of the game.

But it's set in the 1990s, music made to sound like 1980s music would neither be appropriate nor really sound like 80s music… it'd sound like an attempt to emulate 80s music.

They might've had a better chance if the game were made in the 90s when the technology was still less than a decade away from the 80s, but two decades on and it's hard to get that feeling back without sounding cheesy. I don't believe it'll happen.

Since, each soundtrack had its own feel of genre, a mix of 90s pop and hard rock, would be the right significance for the soundtrack, but it would also borrow some sounds of the 80s, since in both 1990 and 1991 alot musicians from the 80s were still recording and successful. tracks like this would come to mind, objections can be made if you will:

Fishbone - Bonin in the Boneyard
Boingo - Try to Beleive
Specials - Ghost Town
REM - Nightswimming
Bad Religion - Faith Alone

The thing about game OSTs is that for the most part they are normaly compositions arranged as they appeared in game. Say Final Fantasy for example, even though there are some lyrical presence the osts are more of the over world theme, battle songs and the such. There are soundtracks that do go the other route like Vice City and burnout, even madden had a soundtrack one year but its rare. Unless there are a few select songs chosen like “cleanin up the town” and “magic” thrown in for cutscene or driving scenes there might not be a strong vocal sound being marketed as a “new” soundtrack. Do keep in mind my fellow XbOxeRs you can always rip your bernstein classics right to your HDD and play them back in game iwth effects, and if your like me then you already play your Halos and DOAs with Hot Night Blasting!

just as long as there's no horrible doomy chuggy rock stuff on there… always, ALWAYS sounds awful, mainly because it is. I don't want my ghostbusters feeling like it's been directed by paul w s anderson!

I reckon orchestral score and the original theme.

and a montage. I demand a montage!

As cool as that'd be, they probably wouldn't be able to justify using the cartoon score in the game based off of the live action franchise.

I was just thinking….it's too bad they didn't use the song Glenn Hughes did. With just hearing a snippet of it, I think that would've worked…it had a good beat to it….I don't know…just a thought… (*peter)

After listening to it for a while, I really would like them to try and include Run DMC's Ghostbusters theme also. Well, if they were including some songs from the soundtracks in the game that is. I also wouldn't mind basically a longer version of the Extreme Ghostbusters song. Not the actual song itself but a newer theme in the style of it. The show might not have been the greatest, but it had a kick ass theme (and if I ever get off my butt and try and learn the guitar I want to figure out how to play it and extend it).

If I know one thing about game soundtrack, it can kill the fun. Why not just put instrumental music in it instead of unnecessary lyrics; something far in the background, to concentrate on the thrill. I have nothing against an opening and ending song.
