Hey I like that kind of spam.

BTW, as again, use the search engine to check if it's been posted before. Somtimes you might of spammed the boards and didn't know it.

Happy Posting!

I didn't think a “How was your day?” thread would be spam. I don't see it around on this forum… and if there was a thread, well, sorry - I missed it. (*ray)

I just figured it would be nice to see how the members are doing, is all. (*egon)

Since this is the better place to follow up on something Zack said elsewhere

Well I'm still deleting/banning users every morning when I get up and after work. 15 or so users a day at times. Able to catch most of them before they post.

I dunno what to say. I told Chad of a post on the phpbb.com forums where there is a thing you code in that asks a security question that automated spam registrations can't get past. That would more than likely eliminate most if not all spam. He said he was working on it. As far as that and I guess getting GBN going again. (*egon) (*winston) I dunno why he wouldn't just do it. It's just a matter of pasting some code. So until then… (*spam) (*spam) (*spam)

I will attest personally that the code does work. We installed it at GBHQ a month ago and since then have had zero spambots. Zero.

And yeah, it is pretty easy to install. I had never fiddled with the software side of a PhpBB board at all until a couple months ago, and I installed it at a PhpBB2 test board without a hitch. If I can do it, certainly Chad can–it's just a matter of taking like ten or fifteen minutes to do it.

I think everyone would thank him if he does. Except the spambots, of course.

There you went Fritz! Finding a better place to post than me. (*ray) :-)

Yeah I noticed that at GBHQ. That's what made me want to look into it again. Gets really frustrating seeing ourselves up to our necks in viagra, tramadol, britney spears and other free offers every day. Figured it wouldn't be too hard to implement the security feature. I know Chad's busy with school and everything else but it's really frustrating to say “here's the answer to our problem” and nothing… (*egon)

Those bloody Vikings are at it again, and this time they're offering some World of Warcraft thing. I've reported two instances already.

Jeez, now they're going after us in the Private Messages?

At any rate, Chad's hoping to have the bots dealt with shortly, that goes for the World of Warcraft Gold and manga ones that have been frequent nuisances as well.
