Stay Puft rules ok! Gozer or no Gozer and im pretty sure he could have been tamed mayb same as slimer, gooify stay puft with the positive slime heck he could even help people or be a fun toy for the kids stay puft bouncey castle rides etc free marshmellow dips who knows

Do you just not understand the concept of what Stay Puft was in the movie? Are you stuck in an RGB world, where Slimer and Stay Puft are tamed ghosts that love children?
The fact of the matter is, in the movie universe, these two are not happy, or tame. They're driven by very basic, animalistic desires and goals.
Stay Puft is Gozer the Destructor. Its right there in the name,
Destructor. They could not have tamed him. He was there to
destroy the Ghostbusters, and the world. He is not a gooey marshmallow castle for children to climb on. You can't choose to ignore the fact that he is Gozer just because he is cute.
You're saying they could've sprayed him the positive slime… that didn't even exist for 5 more years. So how would they have calmed him down? Just try saying “Oh, Mr. Stay Puft, please don't hurt us… we'll give you graham crackers.”
Ray even says “I tried to think of the most harmless thing, something that could never, ever, possibly destroy us… Mr. Stay Puft.” showing that he was wrong. He thought he could choose something cuddly and cute and have it not be destructive, but he was wrong, because Mr. Stay Puft is still coming to destroy them.
Have you ever seen Jurassic Park? You're like the people thinking they could capture the dinosaurs and tame them. They're vicious animals that cannot be contained. Same thing with Stay Puft.
Think of it this way… you're on top of a building and Gozer tells you to choose the form of the
Destructor. You choose Bugs Bunny, because he's cute and cuddly and there's no way he could destroy you. Gozer then shows up in the form of Bugs Bunny… Gozer is not actually Bugs Bunny, because Bugs Bunny does not actually exist. Same thing with Stay Puft. Stay Puft is a cartoon character who does not actually exist in a physical form in the Ghostbusters universe.
I think you're getting too caught up in thinking that this was actually Stay Puft, and that Stay Puft was what the Ghostbusters destroyed, and that Stay Puft is a lovable kid's character who could be tamed and played with. They didn't do that. They destroyed Gozer, who had taken on the form of Stay Puft. Its really very different.
