Haha, I know. It's so tough, because I'm there “technically” as a professional, so I can't exactly just have someone snap a photo of me with him. It was still just cool getting to meet him though. Seemed like a really good guy, and a HUGE fan of movies all around.

About the blu-ray:
In all honesty, the quality wasn't that much better, but it was noticeable. Does that necessarily increase my enjoyment of the film? Not really.

Still, I'm sure I'll pick it up anyways, if only for the special features. Besides, if there's one film I'm going to own on VHS, DVD, and Blu-Ray, it might as well be Ghostbusters.

Here's what I wrote about the blu-ray in the article:
"After watching Ghostbusters several times over the last couple months on regular DVD, I am convinced that on Blu-ray the film has never looked, or sounded, better. Granted, I did get to experience this upcoming release on a theater-sized screen with a great sound system. Still, the vast improvement in the picture and sound quality was readily apparent. I found this very surprising, as the film is twenty-five years old, and I’ve often said that there’s no point in re-buying an old film on Blu-ray if you already own it on DVD. However, I am now convinced that with the right amount of effort applied to the transfer, even older films can look and sound better in the Blu-ray format. Big props to Sony for putting in the effort to make this a great release."

ah awesome.

Long time reader, first time poster!

I was also present at last night 25th Anniversary screening. My biggest reason for being there - besides celebrating the anniversary, and seeing the movie on the big screen again for the first time in 25 years - was playing the video game, and I spent a good hour and a half playing the PS3 version last night before the film. (This is ironic, because I own an XBox 360, and not a PS3.) As a matter of fact, I kinda feel guilty, because afterwards I felt like a controller hog. I tried to hand the controller off to a couple of folks, but somehow the controller kept ending up in my hands. Eihter way, the game is teh roXXors. I actually took over for another gentlemen early on in the Hotel level, and ended up playing (with a break or two so other folks could try) all the way up to just before the battle with The Big Guy. SO much fun.

The film looked great in Blu-Ray. It was really nice to hear from Ivan, and how proud he is of the film, and grateful he is to the fans for keeping the film “alive.” I managed to catch his speech on camera (thank goodness for the Flip Mino camera) and I'm planning to post it up on YouTube if I can.

One other thing I was on the lookout for, and saw lots of, were fans in full gear. I counted about 13 people - eleven guys, one girl in full dress, and one “sexy” GB (who had her Proton Purse on upside down). Three of the Proton Packs were slightly different from the movie: one guy's was unfinished, and a second guy's was movie-authentic, but had a trap hung on the side, RGB-style. The third, was the coolest, though, and was video-game authentic. As a matter of fact, it was on slime-blower mode, and even had the green lights cycling on the cyclotron. The gentleman wearing the pack (his namebadge read “Ham” - is he around here?) was definitely a voice for the game…while I was playing the game, I asked him if he had worked on the game, and he told me he was a beta-tester. Lucky stiff.

Also present was Greg Miller from IGN. Greg, as many of you might know, has been IGN's go-to guy for the new game, and did a terrificly funny video for IGN where he rolls through NYC in full gear and meets the great Dan Aykroyd and interviews him. I didn't recognize him at first, but I did later and got to shake his hand. Seemed like a nice guy.

Heck, I even managed to get a free T-shirt. Was too small for me, so I gave it to my mom, who took me to see the movie all those years ago, and is almost as big a fan as I am.

An awesome night all around, I must say.

I know he's not the only one, but he's the most active and predominant.

Dude I was there last night, the game was awesome, and Ivan's speech was the best part when he talked about GB3 and stuff. I sooooo wish I could relive last night. One thing about the Blu Ray edition is the only thing that they really improved was the audio witch was great.

Quick question about the Blu-ray: Do any of you guys remember if they fixed that color error when the streams wrap around Slimer in the ballroom scene?

I'm very glad you guys got to attend the screening (I'm a bit envious, I must admit). Thanks for sharing the information, this is really exciting news. I, for one, will be a proud owner of a Playstation 3 this coming weekend so I will be able to watch the Ghostbusters Blu-ray and play online multiplayer Ghostbusters: The Video Game with fellow PS3 owners here.

That's a good question. I'm wondering the same thing.
