I think he was serious. Here's why…

-It's his and Akyroyds baby.
-He dresses up as Egon every Halloween.
-He's been wanting to do another sequel for along time now.
-He said he wants to work on something he cares about, and we all know that he cares about Ghostbusters probably more than anything he has ever done. Afterall, it's were he got his fame from mostly.

So really, I think this might be the turn around for things.
