hey back, in making ghostbusters, on page 66, it says that hardware consultant steven dane designed and modified the ecto 1. didn't barris build the ecto 1s for the car show circuits?

Mystery? What mystery? I'd like to know about this mystery.

Or am I just being lazy and could find this out if I went to your site?

(P.S. I've been there before. Nice job. smile )

Actually any and all information can be inaccurate or completely false (as i have found with my extensive research with ECTO-135). Barris & Co. not only built the ECTO-1/1A, but the other 3 Ectomobiles located throughout the USA. and why was it a mystery? well hell ive always wanted to know how many were really built, who did it, where the reside and when (although with the information currently gathered the question of “when” doesnt really matter at the moment). it took me a year of extensive research to come up with what i have today. the main reason why it was a mystery is because everyone had there own little story about the subject (as did i), therefore no one really knew. It took a long time to not only gather the rest of the pieces of the puzzle but to assemble it as well.smile for more information please refer to “ECTO-INFO” at ECTO-135.

I hate to burst anyones bubbles but
BARRIS DID NOT BUILD THE ORIGINAL ECTO-1 OR ECTO 1A!
That guy says he built ever movie car ever done. and people believe him. He claims to have built the black beauty from “Green Hornet” but, the truth is Dean Jeffries did it!
He MAY have done some of the non-screen used ones after the films were made. but the originals were done by the studio. and are rotting there today. They are the same two cars Columbia Pictures PURCHASED in 1983 to use in the first Ghostbusters!
