The Artwork of Egon Spengler

Dr. Egon Spengler is perhaps one of the most underrated artists working today. Although he is fairly well known as a paranormal investigator and exterminator, and for helping to rid New York of Gozer and Vigo the Carpathian, the art world has not really taken notice of him and his work until recently. As a child and to this day, spores, molds and fungus have fascinated Egon. This fascination certainly shows through in his work. 1993’s “Spores, Molds, and Fungus” depicts a scene common to Egon’s home studio.Of course, his experience with his paranormal investigation and elimination company, Ghostbusters, Inc, has had a great deal of influence in his artwork. Examples of this are his recent sketch “Ghost Trap,” an oil pastel piece entitled “Still Life With Proton Pack,” and “My Fear,” which is an earlier work. “My Fear” specifically relates to his work with the Ghostbusters as it was done shortly after the 1984 coming of Gozer in New York City, his hometown. Egon has blamed a coworker of his, Dr. Raymond Stanz, for the so-called “Stay Puft” incident ever since. Finally, included in this exhibit is the brilliant exploration into paranormal emotion entitled “Peace, Violence, and Indifference.” It is a series of three pieces depicting a harmless yet mischievous specimen named Slimer in three different states of emotion. Also included in this collection is a 1985 self-portrait.
Egon currently lives in a New York firehouse where he continues his work in paranormal investigation and art. This accomplished artist is sure to be seen as a visionary and legend in years to come.

“My Fear” is seriously messed up. I don't know whether to just walk away or cock my head in confusion.
