What is the Slimer feature on the Blu Ray?

You watch the movie Ghostbusters and a small window opens up (picture in picture) where you see Dan Ackroyd, Harold Ramis, Sigourney Weaver, Ernie Hudson, Ivan Reitman, William Atherton and other crew members pop up and talk about the film as you watch it, also some trivia pos up as well.

This is all new info just filmed especially for the 25th aniversary, you will not of seen it anywhere before.

My target had the blu ray on the shelf today, when i went to checkout it prompted the comp that it wasnt available to sell until the 16th. what a tease. Also, they had an opened gbtvg for ds behind the electronics counter. I asked the guy if the game was in and he said no. what the hell.

Okay, guys: Got the Blu-ray and scanned through some scenes. From what I've seen, its a gorgeous transfer. Its grainy, yes, but that's to be expected of such an old film. This is the best the film has ever looked.

And before anyone asks: the Slimer/Stream problem from the 2005 DVD has been fixed.

I have to agree that there is far more detail now on Blu-Ray than we have ever seen before, a good exampleis when Ray first encounters Slimer at the Sedgewick, the amount of detail in Slimer is amazing, you actually see his yellow eyes and see all the food going through him that he is trying to eat it.

Regarding the grain issue, according to a review on AICN I read, they seem to think that the grain should not of been as bad as it is because they have seen the film on 35mm recently and it is no way as bad as the transfer is.

AICN
This is a very conflicted recommendation. My first reaction to watching the transfer was to take it out of my player in anger. This frustrated me. GHOSTBUSTERS is a seminal and important film work in my geeky life. I love the effects, the comedy, the performances, the music… everything – and when I watched it – The grain was so sharpened that it became an instant and annoying problem. Mainly due to the fact that I’ve seen this film in 35mm and it does not have the issues with the grain that I saw on the Blu Ray. I’ve read that the original DP supervised with the producer this transfer. And when I put my old DVD in, yes.. there is a VAST improvement in image quality. But mainly due to the fact that the GHOSTBUSTERS dvd is one of the worst DVD transfers that I’ve seen – this side of that original ROAD WARRIOR disc. BUT when they gave us ROAD WARRIOR on Blu – it was stunning. Not really the case here. I am recommending this disc for many reasons, the main one is that… at least it is better than what we had before, but it isn’t mind blowingly great. And that is a shame.

Jesus christ. So in 1984 they shelled out the money to do a scene involving an expensive costume for Dan, a speaking roll for Ernie, filmed it, edited it, and yet it will never see the light of f**king day.

LOGIC FAIL.

Thats the problem with 35mm..you can't take something of lower quality and upconvert it..it doesn't work that way.

So yeah, the grain on this one is BAD. Its not as bad as the Beetlejuice Blu-ray. The thing is, its just a waste of time to get older films on blu-ray, unless you're just trying to replace all your DVDs. They usually end up looking worse.

A really good review of the Blu-Ray HERE.
