I strap my self in, brace myself and fall onto my back, then both sides and see how intact my pack stays, then i improve until it can take serious abuse. now what im really wondering here is what kind of beating can your packs take & what are they made out of(looking for some ideas)?

I daresay the answers to this might be more subjective than you might think. At 6'5" and 240 lbs, nothing less than a solid metal or resin pack will escape any damage if -I- fall back on it. And in both cases, I still wouldn't bet on the Ion Arm not bending or breaking… Now, if we're talking about a little pipsqueak like

Strong wood mixed with resin parts holds up well, although why would you be sitting down or dropping your pack?? I can understand an accident but anything else just doesnt make sense. I'm building my pack out of wood and whatever else I can find, it holds well, especially when you have a pro carpenter working with you wink Plenty of Gorilla glue and Epoxy holds her together just fine. smile

Maybe I'm going of on a limb here, but Ithink the reason why he mentioned falling on his back and such is because he's probably thinking about making making a GB home movie. If thats the case, well, ghost will frequestly throw people into walls and on their backs, it's a scientific fact right? But a, if that is what your thinking, why not just make a pack out of styro or, better yet, rubber. Thats what they did in the movie. Make yourself a stunt pack, don't ruin your good one.

I could be wrong but thats my thought.

I used 1/8'' Styrene for my pack. If you are making a GB Fan Film, I'd use Foam Board. You can get it at Hobby Lobby for $1.99 a sheet for white. Just build a couple of Foam Stunt Packs and spray paint them black, then add some details. They don't have to be perfect, just good enough for a couple of shots.

The way i see it - if yor gonna build a pack or other equipment there should only have to be one of each and they should hold. you never know whats going to happen on halloween.
